I was never prepared for technology to be our main contact when entering university. As a first generation student it was hard to get through with choosing classes all online without no in person orientation.

As a first generation student I was excited to meet new people and classmates in person. The only communication I had with my peers were through zoom in breakout rooms. This was something I wasn’t used to because I was used to collaborating in person. This was new to me.

There were moments where we were able to access campus. They slowly started to let us attend class in person with a mask. The only problem is that I was always so lost. I relied on technology, gps to get around because I didn’t know how to get to my classes since I was only for my whole freshman year.

There were times where I needed help in school. I struggled with my papers sometimes. I had to receive tutoring online, this was me relying to zoom and technology to get help in my coursework.

By this time I was so used to technology that when classes slowly started being in person and the moment came to collaborate in person I was so nervous. I relied on technology for so long that when they tried to take it away slowly I was terrified.
