Established in Istanbul by Sultan Mahmud II as “Mekteb-i Harbiye” to train officers for the Ottoman Army. -
Start of Modernization Period
With the Second Constitutional Era, the academy modernized its curriculum to follow European standards. -
Republic of Turkey Founded
The academy became the main institution for training officers of the newly formed Turkish Land Forces. -
Relocation to Ankara
Moved from Istanbul to Ankara, the new capital of the Republic. -
International Cadets Admitted
Started accepting cadets from allied and friendly countries. -
Structural Reorganization
The academy became part of the newly established National Defence University as part of a broader restructuring in military education. -
Present Day
The Turkish Military Academy continues to educate future commanders with modern training and leadership programs.
