    Migration over the Bering Strait

    10,000 years ago, the first people came to the Americans over the Bering Strait from Siberia in Asia.

    The road to equality

    The first people came to the continent we now call North America over 10,000 years ago. They came over the Bering Strait from North Siberia and settled. The first Europians dident arrived befor much later. This happend first in aboute 1000 AD when the Viking visited briefly. Later Christopher Colombus expedition reached the Americans in 1492. This marked the beginning of the European colonization.

    Early years

    • Without the help of Native Americons, The Europeans would not be able to settle all over North America (Lewis and Clarke expiedition 1804-1805).
    • They got help from Pocahantas and sakagawea, who now are famous Native Americans.
    • However, the Europeans brought whit the many diseases that killed huge parts of the Native Americans population.
    • Sacagawea helped by showing them the way and talking to other Native Americans, so it was easyer for them.
  • Slavery becomes legal

    Slavery becomes legal

    The first legal slave owner was recognizedin 1654, that was because plantation owners saw the need of cheap labor. Slaves was a part of the Triangular Trade, they took real exspesive things that where made and exchanged for slaves.

    It is estimated that around 250,000 slaves were taken to America during the slave trade.

    Birth of a nation

    When more people settled in North America and began to do farming and industry. They began to question if it was a good idea to be a part of Britan, and choose to declare their independence. The transition was not as peaceful as they hoped. There was a conflict from 1775-1783, after that the Britain gove the new nation complete independence.

    Declaration of Independence

    The US wanted independence from the British crown, and wrote the Declararion of Independence, signed by the Founding Fathers, among them, George Washington and Benjamin Franklin.

    The assassination of Abraham Lincoln

    The Northen won the civil war , and slavery was abolished. Unfortunately, Lincoln did not live to see this happend as he was killed in 1865.

    The Civil War

    Civil war broke out between the Nothern and Southern states, where slavery was a big issue. The Nothern wanted it to be gone and the Southern wantend to keep it.
