    10.000 years ago, the first people came to the Americas over the Bering strait from Siberia in Asia.

    The first people That came to north america came there 10.000 years ago, But the europeans didn't arrive until about 1000 AD when the vikings visited. Later christopher Colombus reached america on his expedition in 1942.

    The first legal slave trade was in 1654
    Slavery in the U.S. was part of the Triangular trade
    Triangle=England→Africa→U.S.
    250,000 slaves were sold between 1700-1800
    Abraham lincoln, president, worked to free slaves.
    The American civil war(1861-1856) broke out, and slavery was one of the issues they fought over.
    This was a war between the north(red) and the south(Blue).
    The North won, and slowly was abolished.

    The US wanted Independence from the British crown, and wrote th Declaration of Independence, signed by the Founding fathers, among them, George Washington and Benjamin Franklin

    The settlers in north america wanted independence from britain and in 1776 the colonies agreed and signed the declaration of independence. But the declaration of independence only included men, not women and slaves.
    This started a war between the settlers and the british
    the war lasted 8 years, from 1775-1783. They called it the american Revolution.
    The U.S. gained their independence, and the constitution was written in 1789.
    George Washington was their first president.

    Without the help of Native Americans the Europeans would not have settled all over North America.
    They got help from Pocohantas and Sacagawea, who now are famous native americans. The Europeans also brought with them diseases that killed huge parts of the native american population.

    Freed slaves were intended to have the same rights as other free men, which ended up not happening.
    Racial segregation in public schools, on public transport, in public areas and in the workplace were now allowed.
    Many people thought these laws were unfair, but in 1896 the supreme court ruled that separate but equal was constructional.
