The Gulf of Tonkin Incident was when President Lyndon Johnson tells the action that Vietnamese ships have fired up on a US destroyer. He also asks the congress to authorize the use of force to defend American forces. There was a second attack but it didn't happen. -

North Vietnam and Viet Cong forces launched a massive surprise attack against the US and South Vietnam. VC managed to attack almost all US airbases and South Vietnamese cities and it became Tet Offensive. It was a huge military failure for the VC, but it still shocked the American Public.

This Massacre was when US Soldiers started killing 347 to 504 unarmed citizens in South Vietnam. They kept it a secret for more than a year before they reported it to the public. It was intensified anti-war sentiment in the United States. -
The people who were in the election were Richard Nixon vs. Hubert Humphrey vs. George Wallace. Nixon wins the election promise to "Bring us together," and end the war. This campaign was focused on "Law and Order." and appealing to the "Silent Majority." -

10 days after the Kent State shooting, 2 students were killed by police gunfire during an anti-war protest at Jackson state University. The 2 men names were 21-year old Philip Gibbs and 17-year old James Earl Green. The students were protesting about the Vietnam War.

The former Department of Defense which is Daniel Ellsberg secretly published the Pentagon Papers. Pentagon Papers was a nickname for a top-secret study commissioned by the Department of Defense on US involvement with Vietnam. It triggered the supreme court case on freedom of the press and contributed the downfall of Nixon.
