William Golding was born on September 19th, 1911. He lived with his Grandparents, in a house called Karenza in Newquay, Cornwall. -
William Golding went to school when he was 10 years old. During his childhood, he was really interested in writing and reading. Golding took English, Music, Philosophy, and Drama at Oxford University. He graduated in 1934 and got a teaching job in 1935.

Before Golding started his writing career, he got a degree in teaching. William Golding was a schoolteacher during World War I, but then he created a novel called Lord of the Flies, which made him a lot of money, and that was enough to make him retire and start writing full-time.
