William Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway on 1 December 1582. At the time of their marriage, Shakespeare was 18 years old, and Anne was 26 years old. Their marriage is often described as a "shotgun wedding" due to Anne's pregnancy at the time.

The couple’s first child was Susanna, born in May 1583, just six months after William and Anne got married. Susanna was christened on 26 May 1583.
Then they had twins – named Hamnet and Judith in January 1585. The twins were baptized on 2 February 1585.
Tragically, William’s only son, Hamnet Shakespeare, died of an unknown cause in August 1596, when he was just eleven years old. -
