League of Nations Founded
41 members were at the first assembly, representing 70% of the worlds population. This was formed after the first WW to try and dispute wars and prevent them in the future. Which the league of nations clearly didn't turn out to work in the future. -
Hindenburg
The Hindenburg was a zeppelin that had crashed during WWII. This was not a cause of war but was a mass casualty event for Germany. The Hingenburg in a way was a way Germany recruited people for the war. -
Nazi Soviet Pact
This was a pact to say that Germany wont attack Russia. Germany would invade Poland and split it with Russia. This pact was broken and Germany ended up attacking Russia which didn't go well for the Germans because of the winter time. -
Germany Invades Poland
When Germany Invaded Poland that was the kick off for the war. This sent the allies after Hitler because he had said he was done but then attacked Poland. This was also a reason why Russia ended up going after Germany, they split Poland and then Germany attacked Russia. -
Britain and France Declare war
After Germany attacks Poland France and Britain declare war on Germany. This happened 2 days after the fact, they did this to try and protect Poland's borders. -
Germany Invades France
This was a quick war for Germany where they won the battle. Germany took over Paris and the French government surrendered. This was a huge win for Germany and a large loss for the Allies. -
Battle of Midway
This Battle was a turning point during the war. This helped America largely when it comes to fighting the Japanese and changed the whole perception of the war. America caught Japan off guard when they found out that Japan knew they were coming. -
Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor was an attack on America by Japan. This attack was a surprise and hurt America heavily. This attack was one of the main reasons why America ended up joining in WWII. -
Battle of Stalingrad
Battle of Stalingrad was a battle with the Soviets and the Germans. This battle was a large battle and ended up being a large turning point in the war for the Eastern front. The battle was a large casualty event. -
Battle of the Bulge
The Battle of the Bulge was a large war where the Germans launched a surprise attack and ended up not winning. This was a small turning point in the war that gave the allies further hope. -
Germany Surrenders
Germany first surrendered on May 7th, but the war officially ended on May 8th known as VE day. They surrendered after Hitler had ended his own life and the military had started to fail. The world was finally at peace. -
Hiroshima and Nagasaki
This was a result of Japan attacking America at Pearl Harbor. This was one of the first instances of countries using nuclear warfare in the war. This was the main reason for Japan surrendering to America. -
Japanese Surrender
The Japanese surrendered after the Nuclear bombs were dropped on Japan by the USA. Japan was doing everything in its power to try and not surrender, even after the first bomb was dropped they did not surrender. -
United Nations Formed
The United Nations was formed just after WWII had ended to maintain international peace. Just like the league of nations this was formed to try and prevent future wars. But unlike the League of Nations the UN is still around to this day.
