Hitler Appointed Chancellor
After several years of the Nazi Party growing, Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany by Paul von Hindenburg in an attempt to fight the increasing numbers of the Communist Party. -
Death of President Hindenburg
Paul von Hindenburg died and Hitler pounced on the opportunity to become the president (Fuhrer), remain chancellor, and become commander and chief in the army. With this power, Hitler and his supporters suspended civil rights, destroyed the Communists, and disbanded other political parties to make Germany a one-party, totalitarian state. Hitler also executed party members that he felt were disloyal. He demanded total obedience.
