There was a great tourist development that increased the population to a great extent. Thanks to economic development, the landscapes were changed. Adeje became a tourist and immigration power thanks to the growth of the foreign population that came in search of work.

The shield of Adeje was approved by Order of the Government of the Canary Islands of May 24, 1991.

Adeje received the title of Villa Histórica by the Government of the Canary Islands, due to the historical, social and cultural importance of Adeje.
