The American Revolution was a struggle between 13 American colonies and Great Britain. The American Revolutionary War lasted for eight years – between April 1775 to September 1783. Throughout the course of the war, an estimated 6,800 Americans were killed in action, 6,100 wounded, and upwards of 20,000 were taken prisoner.
