Our namesake was appointed by President Gerald Ford in 1975. Justice Stevens considered becoming a teacher before joining the Navy during World War II where he received the Bronze Star. A Chicago native, Stevens attended the University of Chicago earning his degree in English literature. He earned his law degree from Northwestern University (Illinois). Harold Maldonado has served as principal at both William Howard Taft High School and Sul Ross Middle School. He was the vice principal at Jordan Middle School when it first opened and he was a secondary science teacher at Truman, Ross and Jones middle schools prior to his work in administration. NISD ArticleIn April 2006, NISD contacted the Archdiocese of San Antonio, and asked if they would like them to construct an historical marker on the site of Pope John Paul II Holy Mass held in 1987. The project was completed and now stands at the corner of Dugas and JP Stevens Drive.

The Falcon Boys and Girls Water Polo teams each finished 7th at the Region Five tournament.

Rob Feilds- Rob Feilds was named the assistant principla of the year for 2006 for Region 20.

The Falcon golf team played 4 major tournaments this season, placing 3rd overall in the Golf Club of Texas tournament.

Sophomore, Rynell P., completed at the University of Arkansas invitational and beat the previous record of 21.64 by .02 seconds to claim the title as the fastest student runner in the nation.

Winter Blast 2007The arctic blast hit San Antonio on Jan. 16-17th, closing the school.

The JPS Automotive department placed 4th in the Autorama and received a $250 grand prize!

The dance team received 14 awards at the South Padre Convention Center.

27 of 31 Stevens students were recognized for their artwork. Many of the students advanced to the Area competition.

The Stevens Forensic Team finished their season with 15 tournament trophies for the year.
