Mildred Attempts Suicide
Guy finds his wife unconscious in their bed, needing emergency care after an overdose attempt. The emergency hospital is called and Mildred is saved, while the operators reveal to Guy that they get nine or ten overdose cases per night. -

A Citizen's House is Burnt With Her Inside
Guy responds to a call at the firehouse and his team rushes to the house of a woman with books in her attic. He tries desperately to convince the woman to leave the doomed house, but she refuses. Rather than give up her knowledge to live a safe, but unhappy life, the woman chooses to go down in flames with her house. -

Clarisse Dies
Mildred casually mentions to Guy that Clarisse had been killed by a speeding car four days prior, and with her death, the girl that sparked enlightenment within Guy's mind is gone. -

Captain Beatty Visits Guy's House
Knowing that Guy had been acting strangely and was likely going to call in sick, Beatty pays him a visit and explains that books are banned to ensure everyone is made equally happy and not offended by any books. Before Beatty leaves, Guy asks him what happens if a fireman happens to bring a book home, and Beatty gives him 24 hours to burn any books he may have or have his house burnt down for him. -

Guy Shows Mildred His Hidden Books
As soon as Beatty leaves, Guy decides to come clean and shows his wife his hidden collection of books stashed away in the air conditioning vents. Mildred panics and wants to turn them in immediately, but Guy convinces her to give him twenty four hours to read together and find out any secrets that could be hidden within the banned books. -

Guy Visits Faber
After recalling meeting a retired English professor in a park a year prior, Guy pays a visit to him to show him the Bible he stole and speak with him. Faber talks about the three things missing from modern society: quality informative content, leisure time to think, and the right to act based on information learned from the first two needs. The two plan to meet with a book printer, and Faber also provides Guy with a method of communicating with him, a small earpiece the size of a Seashell Radio. -

Montag Blows His Cover
Guy returns home to find Mildred with two friends. He listens to their small talk and becomes increasingly frustrated before pulling out a book of poetry, Dover Beach, and reading it to the three women. One of the women starts crying at the poem and they storm out, leaving Mildred extremely upset. -

Montag's House is Burnt
The firemen play a round of poker but are pulled away when the alarm rings, only to lead the squad to Montag's own house, where Mildred is leaving with her belongings. Mildred and her friends had put in two separate calls, turning Montag in. He is forced to burn his house down by himself before he is placed under arrest and his communication device is taken. In a panic, Guy turns the flamethrower on Beatty, kills him, knocks out the other two firemen, and kills the Mechanical Hound. -

Montag Escapes
Guy meets with Faber one last time, who gives him some clothing to throw the Hound off his scent. He makes it to the river and the search is over, with a poor random civilian being killed as "Montag". Guy meets a man named Granger who sympathizes with him, and introduces him to a society of rebels like him who all remember certain books to keep the memories alive in society.
