General Stonewall Jackson and James Longstreet led an army of 55,000 men to Bull Run once more against 75,000 Union Soldiers. To the Unions surprise, the confederates won when the Union troops retreated back to Washington.

Grant leads 120,000 soldiers towards Richmond Virginia to attack Lees army of 64,000 which led to many more battles. While Grant attacks Lee, Sherman led 100,000 men to attacks Johnston army with 60,000 men.

Grant lost 7,000 men in 20 minutes while attacking fortified rebels in Virginia. They all knew they were going to lose and one soldiers last entry in his diary said "I was Killed".

Union troops missed an opportunity to capture Petersburg and cut off confederate rail lines and because of this, capturing Petersburg took 9 months.
