This strike happened because workers waged were reduced. This affected the economy because the railroad workers wouldn't allow for the passing of the trains which could have been carrying imported goods. Militias were sent to break up the strikes. -

Supreme Court decision that prohibited states from regulating railroads because interstate commerce is controlled by congress. Overturned Munn v. Illinois. Lead to the creation of interstate commerce commission. -
Haymarket Revolution
The riot was because of the extreme tensions between laborers and wealthy business owners. A social effect because of the protest the killings of 2 workers. There was a bomb explosion that killed policemen. Blamed on radicalism and resulted in the ending of the knights of labor. -
Dawes Act
A social act between Native Americans and congress. Broke up land reservations and gave some to Native Americans. The extra land reservations were sold to settlers. -

A focus on heavy industries like oil. Electricity was introduced which allowed for factories and machinery to work efficiently which allowed for an increase in the economy. Growth of cities and mining. Shifted industrial instead of agricultural. -

A wage reduction that led to increased tensions between labor unions and railroads. President sent troops to break up the strike which started a political debate on if the president had the power to do this. Eugene Debs was the leader of this strike and soon later lead to the American socialist party. -
Plessy V.Ferguson
Supreme Court that established "separate but equally" and provided a justification for the increase in segregation in America. There were economic and political restraints. Supported Jim Crow laws.
