Revolutionary Period begins
In the following 60 years, numerous scientific, technological, political and societal revolutions will sweep Tamriel. Two active major powers will be caught up in violent revolutions as the old aristocratic power structures of Tamriel are ruptured. The Second Great War will be fought, causing major changes in both the Empire and the Dominion, leading one of these states to collapse and dissolve. Science will rapidly advance, accurately explaining many things. Gods remain inactive but vigilant. -
Administrative reform in the Empire
As Skyrim and High Rock prospered, they began to demand increased suzerainty from Imperial laws. Empress Adriana Tiberius heeded their calls and carried out an administrative reform. The Empire was transformed into a confederacy, composed of three states: the Empire of Cyrodiil, the Federation of High Rock and the Kingdom of Skyrim. This new confederate Empire was asymmetrical, with Cyrodiil retaining its supremacy over the foreign relations, defense policies and internal affairs of the Empire. -
A comet observed through a telescope
Peninus Pelin, a resident astronomer at the Arcane University, discovered a comet flying by Nirn. The discovery of a celestial body different from the planets, the et'Ada and Magnus created the separate field of astronomy and the comet's movement also proved that Nirn had a strong gravitational influence. His wife named the comet Pelinette, or "small Pelin". Pelinus was not amused and divorced her three years later in an acrimonious divorce. -
Binary language created
The Redoran mathematician Tavrar Rolralu came up with binary language, a language of zeroes and ones. First utilized with secret messages and cryptography, the full extent of usefulness of binary language had to take some time to be realized. -
Idealism developed
A faction of Symposium philosophers began to believe in Idealism, holding that only the contents of a man's mind can be truly believed in. Believing that all physical things cannot be certainly known to exist, they were considered outcasts among the other Symposium philosophers, who were more pragmatic. Nonetheless, Idealism gained a few converts, largely among the students of the more esoteric fields of magic. -
A new substance discovered in Vvardenfell
A prospector, surveying glass deposits near the Red Mountain, noticed that a blue glittery fluid was seeping from the ground. The liquid smelled horrible, but burned with a bright blue flame, producing a lot of heat. Erroneously named corundia, due to the prospector believing the fluid to be liquefied corundum, the curious blue burning liquid made rounds around Vvardenfell. Some early inventors began building corundia-based lamps and stoves, finding the liquid to be a great fuel source. -
Akatosh discovered at the Sinfazir Observatory
Akatosh, a large orange gas giant with a ring system, was discovered by a Khajiiti astronomer called Za'in-Dar Tovikani. Tovikani calculated the orbits of all currently known planets and discovered that a large object must be influencing the orbit of Julianos. Akatosh, named after the Imperial God of Time, became the fourth planet to be discovered. -
Regenerative furnaces built
Imperial Engineers improved the steel-making process to be a lot more efficient by inventing regenerative furnaces. These new furnaces used sophisticated electrical mechanics to regenerate up to 70% of fuel used to heat steel into a molten state, thereby making it possible to build smelters in places with little-to-no coal resources, like Blackwoods and Southern High Rock. -
Alterolensing discovered
Researcher Nerek Signellus of the College of Whispers had heavily invested his fortunes in the study of Alteration magic. As he failed to prove to his fellow researchers that Alteration could be used to play around with electricity, Signellus was humiliated. After he discovered that Alteration magic allowed its wielders to distort reality, Signellus established the field of Alterolensing: the use of Alteration magic to view objects and areas of objects that couldn't be seen with the naked eye. -
The science of psychology recognized
Ariedice Monrrane, a Breton researcher, had developed a new way of dealing with mentally ill patients. By having them describe their dreams, she came up with the idea of each person having a subconsciousness, in addition to their waking consciousness. Her ideas kickstarted the science of psychology. A deeply religious woman, Monrrane believed that Sheogorath was the father of all mental illnesses and claimed that being sane was to wage a constant fight against his influence. -
Smoking becomes fashionable
The tobacco plant, known to induce mild euphoria, has been smoked by the inhabitants of Colovia for many eras. After the practice was appropriated by the youth of the Empire, it was adopted all around Tamriel as a symbol of modernity. Smoked in pipes or rolled into cigarettes, tobacco was cultivated all across Tamriel as a crop of luxury. Later studies proved that tobacco was addictive and carcinogenic, but did little to stop the fad. -
Mahakh Gorzar begins his work
Mahakh Gorzar, the son of an Orcish nobleman from Orsinium, was a student of Dwemeri history at the University of Solitude. He was a member of the Shotaro Society, a group of students professing classical liberal views. For his doctoral work, Mahakh wrote a thesis called "The Reverberations of the Deep Folk", where he argued that the Tamrielic societies should look towards the Dwemer as the paragons of reason, secularity and virtue. His thesis was released in the Haafingar Herald newspaper. -
Corundia studied
Researchers from the College of Whispers got their hands on a sample of corundia from Vvardenfell. After rigorous testing, corundia was identified as being a physical form of pure magic, turned into a liquid by an unknown process. Theories suggested that the underground corundia deposits of Vvardenfell were the earthly remains of the Earthbones, the et'Ada creation spirits who gave their lives to create Nirn. -
The properties of corundia
Corundia, a newly discovered new form of physical magic, is a viscous blue-colored liquid with an unpleasant pungent smell reminiscent of rotten fish. Corundia has a low boiling point and glitters under direct sunlight. When ingested, corundia temporarily boosts the magical capabilities of its users. It is, however, extremely foul tasting. Corundia burns brightly with a hot blue flame. This property can be used to theoretically build corundia-powered machines and produce electricity. -
First attempts to industrialize the production of corundia
Vvardenfell Autonomous Region built depots to gather corundia in large quantities and research its potential uses. It was found that corundia could be used to provide heating, as it produced more heat-per-volume than coal and could be transported with relative ease. Soon, the Ashlands were riddled with corundia depots, which provided fairly large amounts of corundia for Vvardenfellians to use. -
Bacteria discovered
Berasg Maluette, a biologist from Northpoint, was an expert of Alteration magic. Using alterolensing to look at the surface of a slice of cheese, he observed thousands of little worms moving about, multiplying and fighting each other. Shocked, he wrote of witnessing a new kind of microscopical life. His writings began the study of microbiology and fundamentally changed the very definition of life. -
Last great steam innovation built
The steam turbines were massive dynamos that used magic-powered drills to create mechanical energy, which could be transformed into thermal energy and directed to generate electricity. The first steam turbines installed within electric plants caused problems when it was discovered that their output greatly exceeded the limits of power grids. In essence they had to be made weaker, because the original design was too ahead of its time. -
Telegraphy theoretically possible
The Royal Wayfarers, left with a lot of power grids with not a lot of uses, experimented with sending information through the grids. Using the binary language devised by Telvanni, the Wayfarers used the power grids to send messages between two waypoints, forty miles apart. This revolutionary technique of sending letters, numbers and symbols across vast distances required only slight changes to existing power grids, and engineering was undertaken to change them. -
Sondvi Nuleioth formulates the Atomic Theory
Sondvi Nuleioth, an alchemist of House Telvanni, formulated that by observing the natural laws, it could be deduced that all existing matter was made out of microscopically small indivisible particles called atoms, which varied in size, elemental affinity and electric charge. His ideas were certainly fantastical, but piqued the interest of Dunmeri alchemists, who began to think within the framework of his Atomic Theory. -
Existentialists release their seminal work
The Altmeri existentialists turned some of the members of the College of Whispers into followers of their ideology. Banding together under the aegis of the Imperial philosopher Surinal Bellius, the existentialists released their seminal work, "About Manmer, Authentically", where they argued that people weren't ruled by luck, divine interventions nor fate, but by the inherent absurdity of the Aedric/Daedric system of the Tamrielic world. -
"The Rise of Dwemer" released
Mahakh Gorzar, who had finished his doctoral studies, joined the College of Winterhold as an expert of Dwemer. He was less interested in Dwemeri technology and more interested in Dwemeri society, where the means of production belonged to the people. In his book, "The Rise of Dwemer", Mahakh claimed that the Dwemer had achieved a classless society, free from the evils of greed. Inspired by the Bretonic Revolution, he called upon the workers of Tamriel to unite and seize the means of production. -
Arkay discovered
Za'in-Dar Tovikani, working in the Sinfazir Observatory, managed to discover the existence of Arkay, a light-blue colored rocky planet about the size of Nirn. Za'in-Dar, a religious Khajiit, believed Arkay to be the original home of his people and observed the planet daily and nightly, searching for signs of life. Finding none, he shrugged and kept on searching for other planets where his fellow catfolk might've originated from. -
The birth of germ theory
After the existence of bacteria was discovered by Berasg Maluette in 5E 205, Tamrielic scientists established the field of bacteriology. A biologist from Hammerfell called Tsayota Yukiyo carried out bacterial experiments with living hosts. She observed tissues extracted from corpses and discovered that direct contact with pathogenic bacteria caused many common diseases. Yukiyo's theory of germs was challenged by religious scientists, who claimed that all illnesses were caused by Daedric Lords. -
Power plants become economically feasible
Royal Wayfarers, the undisputed masters of electronics, began constructing large power plants, which used coal to generate electricity. Electricity produced by the power stations was transported straight into the homes of citizens wealthy enough to own electrical appliances. By now, all cities of Alinor and many cities in Valenwood and Elsweyr were connected with electric power grids, which transported electricity around the nation. -
Syndicalism is born
In his seminal book called "Oppression", Mahakh Gorzar laid groundwork to a socioeconomic philosophy called Mahakhism. According to Mahakh, class struggle and working class poverty were intrinsic to the capitalist system. Eventually, growing social inequality would lead to a revolution of the proletariat, which would lead to the establishment of Syndicalism – a socioeconomic system based on common ownership of the means of production and the distribution of wealth based on one's contribution. -
An excerpt from "Oppression"
"Class antagonism keeps an even pace with industrial development. Tamrielic societies eagerly seized Dwemer technology, only forgetting that when Dwarven machines immigrated into Tamriel, advanced social conditions of the Dwemer had not immigrated along with them. [...] The archaic concepts of nationality, religion and class shall be abolished. These desires can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all bourgeois states. We have a war to win. Working men of Tamriel, unite!" -
Vacuum proven to exist
The scientists of Symposium, perturbed by traditions suggesting that vacuum can only exist due to Alteration magic, managed to build a vacuum pump that could lower air pressure to very low increments. Experimenting with vacuum, they discovered that various substances acted differently in vacuum. Curiously, flames instantly died. Small animals also died when exposed to vacuum. -
First submarine built
Imperial Legion commissioned a vehicle from the Imperial Engineers that could be used for underwater combat, without a need to invest in Alteration-based solutions. Mechanics of the Imperial Engineers built the first submarine. Using advanced intricate pressurizing parts and a hull made out of a steel-orichalcum alloy, the first submarine was successful. After their success, the Legion contracted the Engineers to build them a whole fleet of submarines for various clandestine activities. -
Telegraphy made public in Alinor
Telegraphy, first experimented with by the Wayfarers a few years ago, was successfully presented to the Dominion Council, who authorized making changes to the power grids to add the functionality of telegraphy to them. Within a year, all islands of Alinor were covered by telegraphy systems. Communication over long distances became as easy as taking steps to a local telegraphy building and sending/receiving messages. -
Potential of corundia realized
Around Tamriel, engineers and scientists realized that corundia, the magical blue liquid found below the Ashlands of Vvardenfell, could be used as a highly efficient fuel. Large quantities of corundia were bought from Vvardenfellian corundia companies, while prospectors working for mining firms discovered corundia in a few other locations, most notably in the Blackwoods of Cyrodiil. Governments sponsored the opening of experimental corundia-refining facilities. -
Psychomysticism organized
Discovering that telekinetic manipulations of the brain could change the way a person behaved, the field of psychomysticism was created by the College of Whispers. Through careful usage of small amounts of telekinetic power applied at the right spots, some of the most debilitating mental illnesses could now be treated. Psychomysticism took off in the Empire as a fashionable new field of psychology. -
First assembly line built
Using the quickly developing electric technology, the first automatic assembly line was built in Bravil by the Imperial Engineers to produce tourist souvenirs, like small replications of the White-Gold Tower and Legion figurines. The assembly line became a truly valuable asset, as workers could now be made to easily produce items that previously took days to produce. Food, mechanical devices and luxury items were mass-produced on pilot programmes. -
Radio waves harnessed
Using the relays the Wayfarers built years ago, it was discovered that radio waves could be used to carry information, including sound. Testing this theory by transporting the sound of a man speaking from the relay in Valenwood to another relay in Alinor, the principles behind radio were successfully proven. At first used for military communication, a few entrepreneurs soon started their own personal radio arrays, to communicate their thoughts. Many such personal arrays were installed in Alinor. -
Pasteurization process created
Bretonic cuisine is known to be pretty damn finger-lickin' good, but it used to be almost impossible to export it out from the province. A cook in Daggerfall called Dryuel Yeommarc discovered that blasting milk and other liquids with Destruction magic for a few minutes turned them much more resistant to expiration. After Yeommarc Process was adopted in High Rock, it spread and became widespread within the food industry of the Empire. -
Oxidation experiments carried out
For many years, the Telvanni alchemists believed that fire existed due to a higher magical force. Excluding old theories about fire being a fundamental force after discovering that flames died under vacuum, Telvanni alchemists came to the conclusion that the Atomic Theory must be correct, and that fire could be caused by atoms being supercharged and exploding. While this theory wasn't correct, it helped to further the cause of the Atomic Theory. -
First Syndicalist Congress held
Mahakh Gorzar's ideas became popular in the intellectual circles of Skyrim. He teamed up with the Aenelfist Syndicate to organize the First Syndicalist Congress, held in Markarth. During the Congress, the Syndicate formally accepted syndicalism as their official ideology. Led by Graild Mjikversen, the Syndicate began to spread word of Mahakhism to the Nordic working class. The Congress also adopted a flag for the syndicalist movement - a sword and a hammer - representing an empowered worker. -
First bicycles built
The Altmeri upper class, who were tired of riding the unsightly horses and wanted to glide towards their destinations like fairies, tasked the Royal Wayfarers to build them mechanical wings. The Wayfarers attempted, but failed to build wings that would be strong enough to carry a living being. Instead, they invented the bicycle, using rubber tires and steel pieces. Bicycles were quickly appropriated and became fashionable among the people of Alinor. -
Corundia production nationalized by Vvardenfell
The Vvardenfell Autonomous Region, afraid of losing exclusivity over its corundia deposits, nationalized the production and turned gathering of corundia outside Vvardenfell Corundia Corporation a crime. This corporation unlawfully inflated the price of corundia sky-high to punish the foreigners and started selling corundia to Vvardenfellians rich enough to afford a corundia-burning stove. -
Tense situation in the Abecean Sea
Abecean Sea was the center of Tamrielic maritime commerce. It was divided between the Aldmeri Dominion, the Republic of Hammerfell, the Empire of Tamriel and the Duchy of Stros M'Kai. After two disastrous wars with the Redguards, the Dominion's maritime borders were severely diminished. Anxious to regain their former influence in the economically significant Abecean Sea, the Dominion started to exert military pressure on the Duchy of Stros M'Kai. -
First machine gun built
The Orcish engineers of Orsinium found conventional rifles to be too weak for defending their city against looters and chivalrous Bretonic knights. The Orcs developed a stationary weapon, which used rifling, a crank, a built-in dynamo and automatic loading. The machine gun was successful enough that the Empire hired a few Orcish teams to operate machine guns around their border camps, discouraging would-be invaders. -
The Empire is finally electrified
The Imperial Engineers, always a step behind the Wayfarers in the field of electricity, finally managed to unite the whole Empire under an unified electricity standard. Combining the power grids with the telegraphy grids, the Empire also finally had a working telegraphy network, years after the Dominion. Now, a man from Daggerfall could send a letter to a man in Leyawiin and receive his response by the end of the day. Work began to unify telegraphy standards with the Dominion. -
The Crisis of Stros M'Kai begins
In an attempt to expand their maritime borders, the Aldmeri Dominion laid intense political pressure upon Duke Haekwon Sendu, the leader of the Duchy of Stros M'Kai. Altmer demanded the Duchy to give up its sovereignty and join the Dominion as a protectorate. In exchange, the Dominion promised to flood the markets of Stros M'Kai with gold, silver and soul gems. As the Dominion had the second-largest army in Tamriel, Duke Sendu had no other choice and agreed to become a vassal. -
Modern practices of medicine established
The College of Whispers was a humanitarian and empiricist facility, taking pride in their commitment to help all people. Medicine was revolutionized within the Arcane University after steel-based surgery tools were created, sterilization processes were enforced, anesthetic substances were created and dentistry made mighty leaps towards perfection. Furthermore, experiments turned many plants more effective through alchemical treatment. -
Royal Elvish Fleet arrives
Duke Sendu of Stros M'Kai had surrendered to the demands of the Altmer and gave his island to the Dominion. Fifth Royal Elvish Fleet, commanded by Rear Admiral Hindaril Adal, arrived to the harbor of Stros M'Kai. They blockaded the city's port and denied entry to all non-Dominion ships. This move angered the local inhabitants of Stros M'Kai, whose livelihood depended on trading with foreign vessels. -
Republic of Hammerfell protests
The occupation of Stros M'Kai sat poorly with the Republic of Hammerfell, which felt threatened by the expansion of Dominion's borders. Five gunboats departed from Hegathe and set course for Stros M'Kai. They were under strict orders to take over the local harbor, scare away Dominion's fleet and force the Duke to restore the political independence of Stros M'Kai. -
Battle of Stros M'Kai
Fifth Royal Elvish Fleet were given orders to sink all potential enemy ships. As soon as the Hammerfellian gunboats entered the harbor of Stros M'Kai, they were under fire. During a brief naval battle, the Redguard gunboats were eradicated. Their surviving crews were detained as prisoners of war and taken to Stros M'Kai. After the Battle of Stros M'Kai, tensions escalated between the Republic of Hammerfell and the Aldmeri Dominion. Both sides began to mobilize their armies for a potential war. -
Stros M'Kai fights back
The local inhabitants of Stros M'Kai disliked both the Dominion and Hammerfell, as they had enjoyed a long period of independence from foreign occupation. After the Battle of Stros M'Kai, the locals armed themselves and openly resisted the Fifth Royal Elvish Fleet's attempts to disembark on the island. Duke Haekwon Sendu was captured and forced to abdicate, as he had lost the trust of the people of Stros M'Kai. His son, Nazeelan Sendu, was crowed as the new Duke. -
Crisis deepens
As the possibility of a large-scale war between the Dominion and Hammerfell grew, the Empire felt the need to intervene. The Dominion's increasingly aggressive expansionist policies served as a threat to the Empire and its own holdings in the Abecean Sea. Empress Adriana Tiberius invited representatives from both nations to convene in the city of Kvatch, where a diplomatic conference would be held. -
The Kvatch Conference held
In the Kvatch Conference, Empress Adriana proposed the return to the pre-Crisis status quo. The Dominion would recognize the sovereignty of Duchy of Stros M'Kai. In order to placate Altmeri economic interests, the Duchy's maritime borders would be diminished. In return, the Dominion would have to reimburse Hammerfell for sinking their gunboats. Thanks to the Conference, the Crisis of Stros M'Kai was successfully defused. However, relations between the Dominion and Hammerfell remained precarious. -
Magna Ge spotted moving
The famed Khajiiti astronomer Za'in-Dar, who had discovered two new planets, was funded by the King of Pelletine to bring him glory. Za'in-Dar moved into Torval Observatory, where he had access to better equipment. Za'in-Dar tried to see if Magna Ge had dead Khajiiti looking at Mundus. He was disturbed when he observed stellar parallax, proving that some Magna Ge moved. This ran against common knowledge, for et'Ada were holes left by escaping spirits, not moving objects. Za'in-Dar kept quiet. -
Zenithar and its moons discovered by Za'in-Dar
Za'in-Dar focused upon finding new planets, abhorred to think that he might be a heretic for disproving Dawn Era physics. He found a massive green-tinted gas giant, which he liked. He tried to name it Za'in, but personal names were not allowed by the Tamrielic Astronomers Guild. He then tried to name it Elsweyr, but instead it was named Zenithar. Za'in-Dar also observed dozens of moons orbiting the planet, providing additional proof for magnucentricity and the theory of gravity. -
Riots over corundia shortages
Vvardenfell nationalized its corundia production, but corruption and the presence of Camonna Tong caused vast quantities of corundia to disappear. Criminals from Vvardenfell illegally sold corundia to Imperial companies for a hefty profit. The people of Vvardenfell rioted, demanding the state to give them corundia for free. After three days of riots, the government of Vvardenfell gave in and corundia was distributed for free. It was mostly used for fuel. Some used it for food and died. -
Anarchism spreads
The Symposium often invited non-Altmer into their ranks. One of them, a Bosmer called Huunea Elmgrass, proposed a political system without governments, kings and nobles, where people would self-organize into communes. She released a book, "Philosophy of Self-Rule", which was distributed only in Valenwood, because the Symposium was afraid of facing another fine for creating anti-establishment ideologies. -
Military reform in the Empire
Throughout the history of the Empire, the Imperial Legion had been the only military force to defend Imperial provinces from assaults. After the Empire became a confederacy, Empress Adriana led a military reform, under which Skyrim and High Rock were allowed to establish their own separate national military divisions, subordinate to the Imperial Legion. Skyrim formed the Kongeriker Hildifjølar, while High Rock organized the Bretonic Royal Land Armies. -
Estya Loraethius establishes Altmeri Syndicalism
Estya Loraethius, an Altmeri philosopher and a convinced Mahakhist, released a book titled "The Death of Auriel". She argued that Altmeri monarchy was the root of all evil on Alinor and suggested that the Altmer should destroy the Dominion, end the worship of Auriel and install a dictatorship of the proletariat. As a response, she was deported from Alinor. Estya moved to Skyrim and joined the Aenelfist Syndicate. Her book established the ideology of Altmeri Syndicalism, also known as Estyanism. -
International Mahakhist Congress held
Held in Bravil, the International Mahakhist Congress took place. Led by Estya, Mahakh and Graild, it was composed of a diverse group of syndicalists, secularists, Estyanists and anarchists. The Congress declared its main goal to be the establishment of an eight-hour working day. Additionally, Mahakhist delegates advocated for free universal education to be made compulsory in the Empire. As the Congress was small and poorly funded, its demands were ignored by Imperial lawmakers. -
Profile: Mahakh Gorzar
Mahakh Gorzar was a Dwemeri historian, philosopher and the founder of Mahakhism. Mahakh was an unstereotypical Orc: he was intelligent, cultured and an excellent writer. His intense hatred of aristocracy and organized religion made him a threat to the Empire. Mahakh believed it to be his destiny to free all Tamrielic workers from oppression. Mahakh remains one of the most influential figures in Tamrielic history, with a polarizing legacy of revolutions, violence and reforms. -
Personality & Appearance: Mahakh Gorzar
Mahakh Gorzar was 54 years old by 5E 215. He was tall, bulky and with prominent protruding teeth. He had dark green-colored skin and yellow eyes. His intimidating Orcish ethnicity was used by his enemies to portray Mahakh as a rabid beast. However, Mahakh was introverted and, contrary to his violent revolutionary activities, had a fairly humble personality. Although Mahakh's political and economic writings were bold and divisive, he wasn't a good public speaker and rarely held public speeches. -
The Golden Era of Alchemy begins in Morrowind
The House Telvanni alchemists had made considerable advances in alchemical sciences after adopting the Atomic Theory. The Golden Era of Alchemy began after an alchemist called Drueliu Serril discovered that burned wood was lighter than fresh wood, implying that some sort of a substance left the burning material. Another alchemist, Dirrel Vendim, made the discovery that air was a gas. Soon, more gases were found, and many were classified as indivisible and elemental. -
Telegraphy takes over Tamriel
After the Imperial Engineers and the Royal Wayfarers worked out an unified standard for international telegraphy, their relays were linked, meaning that telegraphic messages could be sent from the Empire to the Dominion, easing business and other contacts between the two empires. Union of Morrowind and Republic of Hammerfell were also connected via telegraphy into the Dominion-Empire system, thereby uniting most of Tamriel under telegraphy. Only Solstheim and Argonia remained unconnected. -
The first telephone built
A Bosmeri owner of an electronics shop, Nurernil Elsinlock, discovered that by using electromagnets linked by copper wire, sounds could be transmitted immediately between two relays. Experimenting with vigor, he reached the news after he demonstrated his invention by speaking the words "I slept with your wife" into a receiver and then having his brother say the words "What the heck, Nurernil?! This is how you inform me?" back into his receiver. His invention, called a telephone, was patented. -
Gaius Tiberius born
Gaius Tiberius, heir to the Ruby Throne, was born to Empress Adriana Tiberius and her husband Bassutis. A perceptive boy, Gaius was enrolled to study in the Tiber Gymnasium, a private institute of quality education. After completing the strenuous Gymnasium, Gaius took two years to study in the famed Sunhold Academy in Alinor, where he came across the Symposium and immersed himself in their radical philosophies. In later life, he enrolled in the Arcane University and studied Tamrielic history. -
Altmeri influence in High Rock
Relations between the Federation of High Rock and the Aldmeri Dominion were extensive, as both regions had strong economic and cultural ties. By 5E 217, Dominion had grown to become High Rock's largest trading partner. Due to these circumstances, there was a growing trend of Altmerization in the Bretonic society. Bretons wore Alinori clothing, listened to Altmeri symphonies and studied the arcane arts. Dominion's influence was the strongest in Daggerfall and the weakest in Wayrest. -
Discovery of genetics in Valenwood
Clering Forestdale, an elderly gardener, developed interest in biology after discovering that while crossbreeding yellow and red beans, 1 out of 3 times the red color dominated. Continuing his experiments with brown and black colored cats, he came to the conclusion that some innate trait had to be involved. He submitted his paper on the subject to Valenwood biologists, who were interested in his findings. Clering later traveled to Alinor and presented his findings to a wider audience. -
Porphyrism established
Martensis Graxi, the leader of the Graxi clan of vampires from Colovian Highlands, wrote a book called "Proletariat with Fangs". Graxi proposed that vampires have been unfairly oppressed by Aedric religions, speciest states and intolerant businessowners. Graxi claimed that vampires are peaceful and can be integrated into the mainstream society. The unique political ideology of Porphyrism, or Vampire Mahakhism, was established and joined the International Mahakhist Group of revolutionaries. -
The Rosentia Affair
In Leyawiin, a trade union called the Union of Nibenese Workers organized a general strike. Union workers demanded the Empire to inaugurate an eight-hour work day. In order to make their voices heard, a rally was held in the Rosentia District of Leyawiin. Initially non-violent, the rally was eventually infiltrated by syndicalists. An agitator killed a police officer with Destruction magic, after which the police opened fire. The Rosentia Affair ended with 12 dead officers and 103 killed workers. -
Valenwood starts genetically modifying food
The Kingdom of Valenwood, often facing food shortages due to most of the state's land being reserved for natural parks, began genetically modifying food by crossbreeding ordinary food crops with magical plants. Although beset with failures, some new crops were generated. Mixing nirnroot with wheat produced a hardy new breed of wheat, which could even grow on rocks, while mixing elf ears with tomatoes produced an edible purple plant. The success of the program led to bolder experiments. -
Republic of Orsinium founded
Mahakh Gorzar's "Oppression" made its way to the Kingdom of Orsinium, where it was diligently studied. Orsinium, one of the most industrialized cities in Tamriel, already had an egalitarian society centered around labor and collectivism. Orcs enthusiastically supported Mahakh's thesis and agreed to switch over to a syndicalist economic system. As a result, the King of Orsimer was deposed and the Republic of Orsinium was founded, the first syndicalist country in Tamriel. -
Mass production achieved in most nations
Thanks to advances in electrical power and the creation of the assembly line, industrialized regions like Cyrodiil, Alinor, Skyrim, Hammerfell and High Rock had developed assembly lines for production. Thanks to the achievement of mass production, food shortages were circumvented. Furniture and households items were now cheap and available for anyone. The living standards in these regions rose meteorically as even the lower classes could now afford to furnish their lives with new inventions. -
The Corundia Revolution begins
After struggling to find more corundia due to Vvardenfell nationalizing its depots, prospectors from the Empire and the Dominion searched for new deposits. Imperial prospectors discovered corundia depots in Eastern Skyrim, Northern High Rock and a huge deposit in Blackwoods region, while Dominion discovered corundia below Anequina and on the Island of Auridon. Argonians discovered massive corundia depots in the swamps near Soulrest. All these nations started recovering corundia from the ground. -
First radio stations opened
After the discovery of radio waves, entrepreneurs around Tamriel saw potential in using the technology to spread their word. The first radio station, "et'Ada Station", was opened from Dusk, spreading the tales of the Ehlnofey among Altmer rich enough to afford a receiver. Union of Morrowind opened a radio station called "Redoran National Broadcast" in order to spread their propaganda among the Dunmer and across the borders into Cyrodiil. -
Horlvald Jannsen builds the first internal combustion engine
Horlvald Jannsen, a Nordic inventor, experimented with gas-powered electrical engines. Through sheer luck, he created the first four-cycle combustion engine. At first using it to power streetlights, he tried to make it work with corundia. Its fuel efficiency quadrupled. Jannsen attempted to market his engine, called the Jannsen engine, to places with low electricity coverage, but he was dragged into a patent war after two Dunmeri businessmen claimed that Jannsen stole the idea from them. -
Stendarr discovered
Hashithon Ramaat. an astrologist operating the Sentinel Observatory, discovered the small planet of Stendarr. His calculations showed that Stendarr was a cold, rocky planet. Za'in-Dar, the discoverer of previous three planets, payed Hashithon a visit and the two men drew up plans to build a massive observatory after having a drink or two. After a few more drinks, Za'in-Dar and Hashithon promised to fly to Masser. -
Telephones popularized in Dominion
After the first telephone line were established in the Dominion, the merits of instant communications were realized. Although extremely expensive and requiring constant maintenance, the Dominion tasked the Royal Wayfarers to establish phonehouses in every Alinori city. The phonehouses were large buildings, where telephones could be used by common citizens for a small token. They were connected by relay stations, where operators connected people with each other. -
Necromantic labor pioneered in Cyrodiil
As the cost of labor skyrocketed in the cities of Cyrodiil, industrialists looked for ways to acquire unpaid laborers. The Colovian Employers Association asked the College of Whispers to develop a workforce of conjured beasts. Conjurers from the College settled on skeletons, as they were fairly easy to summon and didn't require food, water nor shelter. Necromantic labor was employed in a few lumber mills. The fad didn't last, however, as skeletons were slow and couldn't handle heavy lifting. -
Hammerfell arms troops with semi-automatic rifles
Republic of Hammerfell spent 5% of its yearly national budget on advancing military technology. Their investments paid off when Ra Gada Army engineers invented the semi-automatic rifle. An intricate gas-operated weapon which automatically ejected metal cartridges and loaded up new ones, semi-automatic rifles became highly popular and Redguard troops switched over. Their design was a state secret and runaway semi-automatics fetched their weight in gold over in the Empire and the Dominion. -
Ayrene Fanron builds the first four-cylinder car
In two areas of Tamriel, the first practical cars were built simultaneously. Ayrene Fanron, an Altmeri pioneer in corundia engineering, acquired a Jannsen engine. Upgrading it with an inline-four engine system, she built the first four-cylinder car in history. Calling the brand Fanron, she started a company to produce the cars. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of cars, she organized a race between three horses and a Fanron car. Her invention won resoundingly and sales grew. -
Sigulvar Alrerson builds the first two-cycle car
In two areas of Tamriel, the first practical cars were built simultaneously. Sigulvar Alrerson, buying the patent for Jannsen engine, upgraded his design by adding cycles to the engine. He started a company called the Jannsen Nordic Motors and began selling his cars to upper class citizens. Soon, first cars appeared on the streets of Solitude, scaring citizens. -
Motorcycles invented in Valenwood
Due to the narrowness of Bosmeri roads, bicycles were ubiquitous in Valenwood. An inventor called Anrulras Balfdale installed a Jannsen single-cylinder motor onto the frame of a bike. Using the high-powered motor to power the wheels to move autonomously, he invented the first motorcycle. It was called the Jode, named after the Bosmeri god of the Big Moon. -
Vacuum tubes invented
Symposium scientists were the first to create artificial vacuum through non-arcane means. Discovering that air-evacuated tubes could be used to amplify, oscillate, invert and display various electric signals, vacuum tubes were invented. At first simple and crude, the technology was later perfected and replaced cathodes and anodes in various electronic objects. Radio receivers and telephones were now considerably cheaper and began appearing in middle-class homes. -
Porphyrists banned from the Mahakhist movement
After Mahakh Gorzar reluctantly allowed freedom-fighting vampires to join the International Mahakhist Group, they began to generate controversy. The Porphyrist vampires grew ambitious and began to revise the core tenets of Mahakhism, to include Lord Molag Bal as the "protector of the proletariat" and declare Vampirism the "ultimate solution" to the eternal class struggle. After a few unfortunate neck-biting incidents, the Porphyrists were banned from the mainstream Mahakhist movement. -
Alchemic discoveries revolutionize science
A Telvanni alchemist called Artven Selos became the first to recognize that air consisted of a mix of three different gases. These gases were identified as foyadium (fire air), bahrdrarium (burnt air) and baanium difoyadium (fixed air). Through the use of electrolysis, a toxic green gas called bosarium (muriatic air) was discovered, while the discovery of moladene, a cyclic baanium compound extracted from coal tar, launched the study of aromatic chemicals. -
Semiconductors invented
The Symposium scientists noticed a curious effect after failing to clean a copper wire powering their lamps caused it to oxidize, making transmission faster. Discovering that certain chemicals lowered their electrical resistance when heated, contrary to metals, the Symposium electricians built the first semiconductor-based circuit boards, for use in radios, telephones and telegraph receivers. Thanks to this discovery, radio waves could spread further and telephones could be built cheaper. -
Pilusanis Antipeter popularizes cars in Cyrodiil
Pilusanis Antipeter, wealthy owner of a Blackwoods corundia company, bought a Falkreathian factory producing Jannsen-brand cars. Antipeter cars became associated with the upper class of the Empire. -
The first computer built and disregarded
Ethen Thiro, the son of a Redoran councilor, had an interest in the Dwemer and the odd calculating machines they used to control their creations. Picking apart Dwemeri electric circuits, he recombined them into primitive logic gates and memory circuits. Building a crude central processor, he built the first programmable computer, the Kenaruhn. It was capable of calculating complex equations. Kenaruhn was used by some colleges, but it broke down often and was soon discarded. -
Telephones now common in Dominion
After an expensive pilot program, telephone networks were extended to cover Elsweyr and Valenwood. Their cost was reduced by semiconductors and their range was improved by vacuum tubes. Some upper class Altmer even had personal phones installed into their homes for quick conversations. However, lower-class and middle-class folk used either the services of phone-stations or the many street phone cabins now ubiquitous around Dominion cities. -
Electromagnetic Theory published
Quaranir Faraldon, preparing materials for a morning lecture on magnetism at the Sunhold Academy, noticed a compass needle deflecting away from the magnetic north after he used shock magic to charge a battery. Intrigued, he began research with the Symposium. He discovered that electric currents, flowing through either a wire or a mage's hands, produced magnetic fields. This discovery unified magnetism and electricity into a single force, the fundamental natural force of electromagnetism. -
Electric railways installed in the Empire
The logistics of public transport had always been a nightmare for the Imperial Engineers due to the inefficiency of the horse-powered railways. Utilizing electricity, the Engineers removed the horse-drawn carriages from the rails in the Imperial City and experimented with iron carriages propelled by electric charge, drawn from the rails themselves. An expensive project, it turned public transport into a wonderful institution in the Imperial City. -
The discovery of Ayotola Force
Sharif Ayotola, a Redguard theoretical physicist, studied the field of thermodynamics. While working in the University of Rihad, Ayotola published a treatise called the Theory of Intermolecular Forces. He proposed the existence of the Ayotola Force, a non-covalent non-ionic bond between molecules. Although the Ayotola Force was weak, it played an important role in a number of biological processes. For instance, it allowed insects and lizards to climb on non-horizontal surfaces. -
"Blood and Courage" released
"Blood and Courage", a seminal book by Imperial thinker called Tacedus Facilius, proposed a political movement called Corporativism. Influenced by radical Imperial nationalism, he proposed that the Empire in its current state should be dismantled and recreated as a totalitarian state with no civil rights, where all citizens would be expected to serve as soldiers. Corporativism glorified violence, encouraged anti-Elvish beliefs and promoted the subjugation of the weak by the strong. -
The invention of film
Senistian Caesiulus, a photographer in Kvatch, invented the gallery shooter. Shooting hundreds of pictures a minute, he spliced them together and created the first movies, showcasing life in Cyrodiil. His invention, called the camera, made it possible to record moving pictures and project them in specially-built houses. First moving pictures were black-and-white and silent, but this didn't stop the public from witnessing the curious new art form. -

Situation in the Union of Morrowind
Ever since its foundation, the Union of Morrowind has been in a continuous state of financial crisis. Much of this was due to mismanagement, Redoran repression and widespread corruption. Morrowind was the only region of Tamriel where manorial serfdom and slavery still existed. Even though Morrowind hosted a large army, beautiful cities and a very active collection of scientists, it remained an authoritarian, poor and agricultural country. Clamor for reform was prevalent in the middle classes. -
Automatic rifles invented
The gunsmiths of Hammerfell went all the way with gun technology after they created the first automatic rifles, which harnessed the power of recoil and gas to automatically keep loading and firing bullets as long as the trigger was held down. At first reserved for the best warriors, automatic rifles cheapened in price and eventually reached all ranks of the Hammerfell military. These rifles turned the Redguard armies almost unstoppable, with a cloud of bullets hitting all of their enemies. -
Invention of sniper rifles and automatic shotguns
Order of Diagna refused to use automatic rifles, as they found them to be loud and for unskilled warriors. Adding scopes onto semi-automatic rifles, the Diagna warriors invented the first sniper rifles and gifted blueprints to the Ra Gada Army. Meanwhile, the engineers of Hegathe came up with the concept of a repeating automatic shotgun, capable of eradicating enemies with unprecedented force. -
Slythyr Motion proves the Atom Theory
Using alterolensing to observe his cup of canis root tea, Telvanni councilor Slythyr Draeonis noticed that little flakes of canis root, when suspended in tea, moved around in erratic patterns. Unsure of the reasons behind this effect, Slythyr theorized that unknown creatures must live inside the canis root. After some further thought, he surmised that the atoms moving around inside water must be the cause. Slythyr Motion proved the existence of atoms and became a victory for Dunmeri science. -
First ironclad built
First ships fully covered with steel plating appeared over 20 years ago, but advances in steam turbines and the creation of Jannsen motors allowed the Imperial Engineers to create ironclads. These ships were entirely made out of steel, capable of withstanding a lot of punishment and moving at high speeds through the usage of high-efficiency steam engines. Ironclads grew to replace wooden ships and became the fearsome representatives of the strength of the Imperial Navy. -
Raxus rays discovered
Raxus Sextifus, a researcher from the College of Whispers, performed experiments with vacuum tubes. A fearsome weapon capable of launching two grenades per second, its operation was expensive and reserved for strictly defensive purposes. -
Ethics of eugenics discussed
After the discovery of genetics and the discovery of natural adaptation, some in the Dominion believed that just as animals and plants could be bred to be of superior stock, Altmer could be bred to be superior as well. The Symposium, which supported eugenics, argued via letter with the High Priestess of Auriel, who believed that all Elven life had a purpose. The correspondence was compiled into a book called "Ethics of Eugenics" and spread around intellectual circles of Alinor. -
Radioactivity discovered
Symposium physician and chemist Falaar Granion used a cathode ray array and malurium sheets to experiment with Raxus rays. After using a piece of akatoshene (Ak), a metallic element recently found in Skyrim, he discovered that it also produced the ghostly glow. Realizing that akatoshene itself produced these rays, he wrote a dissertation, where he argued that Raxus rays were not generated by magic, but by certain metals through some unknown mysterious force. -
Autocannons invented
Orcish engineers began to construct autocannons. A ridiculously overpowered weapon, autocannons used machine gun technology to automatically throw exploding cannonballs at whirlwind speeds against incoming enemies. Capable of firing a cannonball every 2 seconds, autocannons ensured that Bretons from surrounding cities never attempted to siege Orsinium again. -
Aneere Dralaram unifies the atomic theory
Dunmeri scientist Aneere Dralaram, born into a family of wealthy merchants in Sadrith Mora, had an interest in both alchemy and physics. After completing her studies in the Academy of Telvanni Sciences, she formulated her first dissertation, unifying Slythyr Motion and radioactive decay to promulgate the Theory of Substance. The first empirical theory to unite physics with alchemy, her work proved that atoms were not unitary particles, but were composed of little indivisible parts. -
Wireless telegraphy created
The Royal Wayfarers continued to experiment with telegraphy, radio signals and telephone relays. Discovering that telegraph messages could be sent through radio wires with simple modifications, the first wireless towers meant to receive telegraph messages were built. Eugenics proposed by the College of Whispers
After reading "Ethics of Eugenics", a study group was sent by the College of Whispers to Bravil, Riften and Cheydinhal. Encountering generations upon generations of degenerates in Bravil and Riften, but sons and daughters of nobles in Cheydinhal, the study group proposed forced sterilization of families who had at least two generations of mental retardation, criminality or drug abuse within their structures. A pilot program was launched to demonstrate its potential usefulness. -
The White Terror
As Mahakhist movements grew in popularity, the Elder Council was urged to take action. With Empress Adriana's permission, the Council launched a campaign of anti-syndicalist suppression, called the White Terror. Penitus Oculatus agents intimidated key members of the labor movement into denouncing Mahakhism. Imperial police officers cracked down on demonstrations and harassed labor activists. A number of prominent Imperial syndicalists were detained and forced to leave Cyrodiil. -
The Girothi Table formulated
After discovering a plenitude of new alchemical elements, there rose a need for an unified system of elemental categorization. Iraorpa Girothi, a Telvanni alchemist, discovered that all alchemical elements followed a similar pattern of atomic weight. Calling it the Periodic Law, he composed the Girothi Table, the first collective table to feature all discovered alchemical elements. His table was quickly adapted and became one of the greatest achievements of the Dunmeri Golden Age of Alchemy. -
Contents of the Girothi Table
The Girothi Table was far from finished, as most alchemical elements hadn't been discovered yet. Nevertheless, it provided a way to categorize currently known elements and predict the properties of undiscovered elements. The Girothi Table contained such elements as baanium (B), the basis of all organic life and mairium (M), the main component of Elvish Moonstone. There was also nimhium (Nh), a highly toxic metalloid, and ebonese (Eb), the main component of Ebony metal. -
A selection of discovered compounds
Ordinary table salt was discovered to be a compound called nikulium bosaride (NiBo), composed of highly flammable nikulium metal and highly toxic bosarium gas. Water was found to be an union of two ouanium molecules and a foyadium molecule (O2F). All organic life on Nirn was based around baanium (B) and its many compounds. Some heavier metals, like Akatoshene (Ak), were discovered to be radioactive and self-decaying. -
Syndicalism spreads to Morrowind
As House Redoran stood opposed to political reforms, syndicalism had began to spread among the Dunmer. The leader of Dunmeri syndicalists was a Mahakhist thinker called Vivie Satheno, who had spent five years in Windhelm rallying local anti-Redoran Dunmer. Sensing an opportunity, she illegally crossed the border back to Morrowind and went undercover as an industrial worker. On her initiative, the clandestine Worker's Party of Morrowind was established, in the city of Old Ebonheart. -
Syndicalism spreads to Hammerfell
Much like in Morrowind, the ruling Crowns faction of Hammerfell ruthlessly suppressed democratic reforms and resisted the onslaught of modernity. The Redguard working class were growing estranged from their rulers. Young educated Redguards were enthralled by the reforms taking place in the Empire and its provinces. In this politically fertile environment, the Kolhaduranga (Lighthouse in Yoku) Movement was born. It was founded by Fahima Fihri-Kundayo, a Mahakhist intellectual from Gilane. -
Highways built in most nations
The Empire and Dominion were fully covered by highways for cars and carriages to use, while Hammerfell only connected its coastal cities, finding the challenges of building highways into the unforgiving Alik'r Desert to be too major to overcome. Union of Morrowind also built paved roads, but they were notoriously prone to spontaneous sinkholes and were avoided by foreigners. Argonians never built highways, due to their religious dislike of modern technology. -
First military submarines built
The Imperial Engineers, who had previously built submarines for underwater exploration, started to experiment with armed submarines. Discovering a way to use water-resistant gunpowder for propulsion, torpedoes were invented. Using intricate navigation system based on barometric devices, the first armed submarines were built. They were purposefully hidden from sight, as there were fears of Altmeri industrial espionage. -
Aneere Dralaram discovers the photoelectric effect and wave-particle duality
Working with the particle model of light, established in the beginning of the Fifth Era, Aneere Dralaram performed the double-slit experiment, proving that light could act as a wave. This changed the perceptions of older times. Experimenting with various metals, Aneere noticed that some colors led to electricity forming within the metal, while others didn't. She postulated the theory that photons, the particles of light, could exist in various wavelengths, discovering the photoelectric effect. -
Eugenics implemented in Hammerfell
The unforgiving warrior culture of Hammerfell had long practiced the acts of excluding "weak" adults from achieving social mobility. After the discovery of genetics, eugenics was instituted as a national policy of the Republic of Hammerfell. Men who refused to take up their rifles to protect the Redguard nation were sterilized, while women who gave birth to disabled children were banned from procreation. The eugenics program was unpopular among the working class, who were the worst affected. -
The Telvanni Islands Incident
On 14th Second Seed, a ship washed ashore in the Telvanni Islands of Morrowind. Redoran authorities investigated the shipwreck and found it to be similar to ships of Fourth Era Tamriel. A corpse of a human was found in the ship. It was determined that the human was not from Tamriel. Maps of unknown islands and letters written in indecipherable script were located, leading to speculation that the ship had originated from Akavir and somehow passed the Padomaic Wall to reach Tamriel. -
First minigun created
The Orcish invention of minigun served as a portable version of a machine gun. Requiring its wearer to be strong framed, the Orcs filled the role perfectly. Miniguns were given to the fiercest berserkers the Orcs could field and were promoted widely in Orcish propaganda as a gift of Malacath to his children. -
Discontent rising in Skyrim
Skyrim was the first region of Tamriel to be industrialized. During the Northern Enlightenment, free-market capitalism was born in Whiterun. Skyrim, however, had regressed into an oligarchy. It was a land where the 1% owned 80% of the land. Aristocrats and mine owners routinely paid off Jarls to secure their interests. The Aenelfist Syndicate spread Mahakh Gorzar's writings and organized strikes. Although the group’s pamphlets were declared illegal, syndicalism had become very popular. -
The Markarth Revolution begins
Mahakh wished to personally vanguard the creation of a Mahakhist state. Together with Graild Mjikversen, the leader of the Aenelfist Syndicate, Mahakh arrived to Markarth and incited a group of Nordic miners to perform a revolution. Mahakh demanded the Jarl of Markarth to appear before him. He didn't appear. Instead, he sent the local Legion garrison to arrest him. This sparked a firefight and the Markarth Revolution began, during which thousands of Nordic workers fought the government. -
The Markarth Revolution ends
Revolting workers broke into an Legion armory and acquired guns and cannons. Mahakh, Mjikversen and Estya Loraethius set up the Revolutionary Committee and attempted to lead the uprising, but quickly lost control over the events. Imperial legionnaires fought back and violently dispersed the workers. Mahakh Gorzar and Estya Loraethius were killed during a failed attempt to capture Markath's post office, ending the Markarth Revolution. -
Graild Mjikversen moves to Haafingar
Graild Mjikversen, who survived the failed Markath Revolution, escaped to Haafingar with the Aenelfist Syndicate. Moving the Syndicate's headquarters into the abandoned Castle Dour of Solitude, the movement accommodated new arrivals from other holds while spreading "Oppression" by late Mahakh, the book that laid the foundation to both Mahakhism and syndicalism. The failed Markarth Revolution radicalized Mjikversen, who started to advocate for another violent revolution. -
Syndicalism grows in Hammerfell
The Kolhaduranga Movement of syndicalist revolutionaries acquired thousands of new members in Hammerfell. Fahima Fihri-Kundayo, the Kolhaduranga's leader, boldly attacked what she saw as Redguard militarism and the growing authoritarianism of the Crowns faction. Inspired by Khajiiti history, Khahir wished to expand the borders of Elsweyr into Cyrodiil. He was obsessed with the Renrijra Krin (Mercenary's Grin in Ta'agra), a Third Era terrorist organization of Khajiiti revolutionaries, whose mission was to bring County Leyawiin under Khajiiti rule. Under Khahir's command, the Renrijra Krin was re-established as a paramilitary guerrilla force. -
Telephones installed across Tamriel
After patent wars between Imperial inventors of telephones were settled, the legal fights subsided and the first official telephone network was installed within the Empire. Finally catching up with the Dominion, telephones became ubiquitous and irreplaceable. Morrowind followed closely to become the second nation to install a national telephone grid, closely monitored by the ruling House Redoran. Hammerfell followed soon after. Even Solstheim got an internal phone service. -
Renrijra Krin raids Cyrodiil
Under Fa'sien Khahir's orders, Renrijra Krin fighters crossed into Cyrodiil. Using funds gathered from the sale of skooma, the Renrijra had armed itself with modern weaponry. The group attacked three military installations in County Leyawiin and raided an Imperial Legion armory in the town of Border Watch. The Empire was concerned over the possibility of a full-blown invasion from Elsweyr and tasked the Legion to defeat Khahir's troops in a battle. -
Legio XVI Flaenia invades Elsweyr
Without informing the Aldmeri Dominion, Legio XVI Flaenia crossed the border into Northeastern Elsweyr. Commanded by Major Constantius Civello, the Legio XVI Flaenia was a medium-sized Legion, composed of 13,000 Legionnaires, 3,000 horses, 120 battlemages and a few hundred pieces of artillery. Major Civello successfully avoided detection and besieged the village of Shuravi, where Fa'sien Khahir and the Renrijra Krin had gathered. -
Battle of Shuravi begins
Legio XVI Flaenia successfully forced the Renrijra Krin to dig trenches and take up defensive positions. As the Renrijra troops were highly knowledgeable of Anequinian weather patterns, they used sandstorms and flash floods to attack legionnaires in close-quarters combat. While the Battle of Shuravi raged, Warlord Fa'sien Khahir informed the King of Anequina that the Empire was invading his domain. The Aldmeri Dominion took the invasion with absolute and utter seriousness. -
Royal Eleventh Elvish Army arrives to Shuravi
Royal Eleventh Elvish Army was dispatched from Alinor to drive the Legio XVI Flaenia away from Elsweyr. Eleventh Elvish Army entered Shuravi and bolstered the local Khajiiti troops. Marshal Mormhdar issued an ultimatum to Major Civello: if Legio XVI Flaenia refused to retreat by the beginning of 5E 241, war would be declared between the Empire and the Dominion. -
Legio XVI Flaenia retreats
Major Civello was petrified over the ultimatum. After consulting with the Elder Council, it was concluded that the Empire had no need to start a war with the Dominion over a few Khajiiti troublemakers. Legio XVI Flaenia heeded Marshal Mormhdar's stern request and departed from Elsweyr. Renrijra Krin declared themselves victors. Due to his brilliant leadership, Warlord Fa'sien Khahir was awarded the highest military honors in the Dominion. -
Aftermath of the Renrijra Krin War
Renrijra Krin were legitimized by the Aldmeri Dominion and continued to sporadically raid County Leyawiin in search of military equipment. The Dominion won a prestige victory, as they had successfully used their military might to force the Empire into submission. The Imperial Legion was humiliated and went through a series of purges and reorganizations. In Cyrodiil, popular resentment arose against the Dominion. The Elder Council and Empress Adriana grew more assertive and aggressive. -
Revolutionary Workers Party of Alinor founded
Estyanism, an idiosyncratic Altmerized version of syndicalism, had began to spread in Alinor. The ultra-elitist Aldmeri Dominion did not protect its working class from exploitation, as Altmeri nobles considered their subjects to be essentially slaves. Ilmnath Grayael, the chairman of the Altmeri Workingmen's Union of Moonstone Miners, founded the clandestine Revolutionary Workers Party of Alinor. The RWP demanded freedom of speech, secularism and the cessation of Altmeri imperialism. -
The Alfisssen Experiment
Kusnl Alfisssen, a Nordic physicist working in the College of Whispers, performed an interesting thought experiment: if a mudcrab was stuck into a chamber and provided with a valve to drown itself with water, until the chamber was opened, there existed an uncertainty as to whether it was alive or dead. During this time, it could be argued that the mudcrab was both alive and dead, existing in dual states. Alfisssen and his odd conclusions were ignored by other scientists. -
Kolhaduranga Movement suppressed in Hammerfell
The Crowns aristocrats of Hammerfell grew concerned over the constant agitation of the Kolhaduranga Movement. Redguard syndicalists had successfully convinced large chunks of people in Sentinel to back their revolutionary ideas. The Republic of Hammerfell began to suppress the Kolhaduranga through the use of harassment, torture and detainment. Fahima Fihri-Kundayo was expelled from Hammerfell for three months, for "anti-Republican activities". -
Syndicalism grows in Morrowind
Workers Party of Morrowind, created in Old Ebonheart by the radical Dunmeri revolutionary Vivie Satheno, grew popular enough to come out from hiding. Enlisting the help of Falaris Eldhren, a fellow anti-Redoran crusader, Vivie Satheno held rousing speeches about crushing the Redoran government, abolishing slavery, organizing workers into communes and the institution of social justice. Contacts with the Aenelfist Syndicate were made. -

She was known to be a worshiper of Lord Boethiah, the Daedric Prince of deceit, conspiracy, and unlawful overthrow of authority. -
Aneere Dralaram establishes the Arcanogravital Theory
Although the magical school of Mysticism dealt with manipulations of gravity, it was assumed that telekinesis lifted items through applied force. Aneere Dralaram, with the help of the Telvanni, discovered that Mysticism spells directly interacted with gravity itself. Dralaram proposed the Arcanogravital Theory, proving that gravity as a force was many magnitudes weaker and subordinate to the omnipresent magical force, which she called the "Aedric force". -
Aneere Dralaram escapes from Vvardenfell
After three major physics discoveries were made by Aneere, Vvardenfellian authorities suspected her motives. Some religious people believed her to be a witch, while other Dunmeri physicists were afraid of being left in the dark and petitioned the Redoran to do something. The Redoran declared her works heretical and authorized Vvardenfell authorities to arrest her. Narrowly escaping, Aneere smuggled herself to Cheydinhal. -
Profile: Aneere Dralaram

Death of the Duke of Stros M'Kai starts a conflict
Nazeelan Sendu, the Duke of Stros M'Kai, died after a fight with cancer. In his will, he gifted his country to the Dominion, as he wished to honor his father Haekwon Sendu's policies. The citizens of Stros M'Kai were deeply offended by Duke Nazeelan's will and petitioned the Empire of Tamriel to protect the island from the Dominion. This launched a legal fight between the Dominion and the Empire, with both sides claiming the Duchy for themselves. -
Aneere Dralaram joins the College of Whispers
After escaping from death by immigrating to the Empire, Aneere Dralaram was invited to join the College of Whispers in the Arcane University, where a study group of Symposium scientists, College of Whispers physicists and Synod researchers were already waiting for her. In this fruitful environment, Aneere Dralaram continued her studies and her voyages into physics. Only seven years later, Aneere made a major discovery that changed all paradigms in physics. -
Sunhold School formalized
Facing threats of closure due to their radical revolutionary activities, the members of Symposium decided to formalize their views into a single codex. Called the Sunhold School, the codex was strongly influenced by Mahakhism and rejected many darker ideas, like corporatism, eugenics and totalitarianism, finding the alternative in the liberation of the soul from the shackles of class, race and gender. -
Quantum superstates discovered
Kusnl Alfisssen, a Nordic physician at the College of Whispers, used the Adus Law to formulate the first comprehensible mechanical foundation to the Quantum Theory of Mechanics, by proposing that individual atoms and lesser particles were able to jump between various states, perform so-called quantum leaps. Called matrix mechanics, his work allowed other scientists to proceed with their own studies of quantum mechanics. -
The Fahrag Massacre
In 5th Midyear, Priestess Irvsea Morvath-Belsvaso marched to the Gre'Ruhn Palace of Blacklight, the seat of House Redoran, and demanded the state to abolish slavery. She was accompanied by a crowd of 4,000 religious Dunmer. The Redoran considered her to be a dangerous radical and ordered their security forces to open fire. In the Fahrag (murderous in Dunmeris) Massacre, 342 Dunmer died and 100 more were wounded. The massacre provoked intense public indignation and led to the Revolution of 243. -
Revolution of 243 begins
After the Fahrag Massacre, syndicalist agitators called for a general strike. All around Morrowind, millions of workers stopped working and marched on the streets. The Workers Party of Morrowind, led by Vivie Satheno, demanded the Redoran to resign. Much to the horror of the Redoran, there was also unrest in army units. In the Deshaan Plain, there were numerous peasant uprisings. Manorial landlords were lynched and their properties were torched. -
Revolution of 243 ends
Nelvel Meryvi, a moderate member of the Workers Party of Morrowind, wrote the Hearthfire Manifesto and forwarded it to the Redoran. The document granted the abolition of serfdom, freedom of speech and allowed the creation of the Grand Council of Rootspire, a democratic electable body to serve alongside the Redoran. Meryvi threatened to start a civil war if the Redoran did not accept his Manifesto. Although reluctant, House Redoran were forced to sign the Manifesto, ending the Revolution of 243. -

Those on the right supported the Redoran, aristocracy, conservatism, the Daedric Tribunal and Dunmeri nationalism, while those on the left supported Mahakhism, syndicalism, anarchism, progressivism and pro-Empire views. Political moderates, classical liberals and republicanists sat in the center. The left-right political spectrum crystallized in Morrowind and was adopted all across Tamriel. -
Invention of flying in Skyrim
Ulfgard Kjarmesson, an amateur inventor from Falkreath, began building a machine that would be capable of flight. After he secured funding from a Nordic engineering company, Ulfgard built the Alduin, a plane equipped with an advanced Jannsen engine fitted onto a wireframe made out of ebony. Kjarmesson rode it for three miles before it crashed and brutally killed him. Blueprints that he left behind were recovered and engineers around Skyrim experimented with similar machines. -
Garis Uncertainty Principle formulated
Galecilius Garis, an Imperial mathematician working at the College of Whispers, formulated the Uncertainty Principle of Quantum Mechanics, using the Alfissen Experiment to prove that unless quantum particles were observed to be in a certain state, their quantum states were uncertain. The discovery of the Uncertainty Principle was a strong advance in the field of quantum physics. -
Cars commonplace in most nations
Due to lowering costs and increased safety, cars were now common among the middle-class residents of Tamriel. New brands were introduced: the Laraeth, a lower-class Altmeri car built out of colorful crystals, the Slarjei, a highly maneuverable Khajiiti desert car, Tuktu, a military/civilian armored car from Hammerfell, a grey-colored Dunmer sedan called Muthsera and the Orcish Thrqushk, a large amphibious car riding on corkscrews instead of wheels. -
Asbjornsson flies to Windhelm
A Nordic engineer called Finnleik Asbjornsson decided to improve the Alduin and make it flyable. Constructing a plane called Alduin II, Asbjornsson flew from Riften to Windhelm in under two hours. Landing in front of the Palace of Kings, the local citizens were scared of the loud machine and he was arrested. Although he was imprisoned for seven years due to unlawful entry, Asbjornsson's invention proved that flying was possible. Wizards denounced the machine as a dangerous mockery of levitation. -
The Second Crisis of Stros M'Kai begins
The Aldmeri Dominion, acting on legal principles by honoring the last will of Duke Nazeelan Sendu of Stros M'Kai, invaded the island. This time, the Dominion sent two fleets and a detachment of soldiers to occupy the Duchy. In a last ditch attempt, the people of Stros M'Kai sent a telegram to the Empress Adriana Tiberius, begging for her to come to their rescue and annex the island. The Empire immediately sent its fleet towards the island. -
Ultimatum of Stros M'Kai
Imperial dreadnoughts and submarines arrived to Stros M'Kai and faced the massive steam warships of the Dominion. Admiral Faelnath Koraine, the leader of the Altmeri invasion force, refused to leave the island. Imperial Admiral Mongoch Alniga offered him an ultimatum: leave Stros M'Kai in a day or receive a declaration of war from the Empire. Unwilling to drag the Dominion into a war, Admiral Koraine left with his fleet and the Empire annexed the island of Stros M'Kai as its fourth province. -
Anger grows in Alinor
Due to his perceived cowardice, Admiral Faelnath Koraine was branded a traitor in Alinor. Aldmeri Dominion, not accustomed to losing diplomatic incidents, demanded the Empire to end their illegal occupation of Stros M'Kai and return the island to the Dominion. Empress Adriana Tiberius, confident in the strength of her Legions, replied to the threat by essentially welcoming the Dominion to try and take the island by force. Tensions dramatically grew between the two superpowers. -
Eugenics banned in Hammerfell
In 5E 240, the Republic of Hammerfell had legalized eugenics. It was their wish to create a new generation of genetically superior warriors. The Kolhaduranga Movement protested against this brutal policy. Over time, they successfully convinced Redguard commoners to oppose eugenics. Fahima Fihri-Kundayo led waves of protests against the Crowns government in Hegathe. In the beginning of 5E 245, the Republic made a compromise and dropped eugenics as an official policy. -
Aneere comes to a realization
Aneere had a breakthrough when she realized that her Arcanogravital Theory, the union of magic and gravity, could be used to unify other natural forces. First witnessing gravitational time dilation after Mysticist mages performed an telekinetic experiment under her guidance, she theorized that massive objects with strong magical powers, like celestial bodies and Magnus, could slow down and bend light, rediscovering the Siribiri Effect written long ago by a Khajiiti astronomer. -
Railroad artillery invented
After the Reachmen of Skyrim began slaughtering Orcish farmers in the Reach, the forces of Orsinium were called in to help. Installing three autocannons onto an armored steam locomotive, a small Orcish army rode into Reach through the Wayrest-Solitude railway. After the Orcish troops had arrived to Skyrim, they began to bombard the strongholds of the Reachmen. The attack was a wild success and the Nords of Skyrim became the first to witness the brutal advancement of Orcish war technology. -
The Red Band formed
A Nibenese activist called Marallia Tullario established the Red Band, a clandestine revolutionary syndicalist force. Inspired by the Aenelfist Syndicate, the Red Band's goal was to overthrow the Empress, destroy the Empire and establish a Cyrodiilic workers' republic. The membership of the Syndicate rose rapidly as they began to arm themselves in preparation of the coming workers revolution. The Nordic government was powerless to stop this revolutionary process. -
Dibella discovered
Elderly Za'in-Dar Tovikani, the discoverer of three planets, made his last discovery after he noticed Dibella, a small moon of Mara, beyond all known planets. Unique due to its pitch-black terrain and its periodic bursts of radiation, Za'in-Dar theorized that there must've been creatures living on the moon who were broadcasting their music. Before he could investigate further, Za'in-Dar died from old age and was celebrated as the first Khajiiti scientist to be worth admiration. -

Azzi's "Doctrine of Power" helped to popularize far-right movements and gave birth to dozens of new corporativist and nationalist societies. -
An excerpt from "Doctrine of Power"
"Reign of matter, money, machines; in Tamriel there is no longer a breath of divinity. Our present kalpa is destined, sooner or later, to choke on its love of modernity. What is required to defend Tamriel against this rise of barbaric thought is the strengthening of a heroic vision of life. Heroes acquire strength through violence and discipline through pain. One must also admit the significance of blood and recognize race as the most fundamental element of a man's identity." -
Flamethrowers invented
Using sprayed corundia, lit on fire by a flame, the Orcs of Orsinium built the first flamethrower. Inefficient and prone to occasional explosions, the flamethrower never became a practical weapon to use against enemies, but the image of an Orcish warrior burning his enemies with a flamethrower struck fear into the hearts of many. Flamethrowers were also used to burn vegetation, clear out bunkers and rip paint from buildings under renovation. -

Wealthy benefactors funded all these syndicalist movements to topple their respective governments, through revolutionary action and agitation. -
Arcane industry in Dominion: Soul gems
Arcane industry, including the production of filled soul gems, potions and pre-enchanted clothing and weaponry, was the Dominion's main source of revenue. Several soulgem factories existed in Alinor, staffed by thousands of Altmer and Bosmer. Empty soul gems, mined from geodes in Elsweyr, were brought to Alinor by ships. Livestock, usually cows, were transported to factories. Wizards soultrapped them into common soul gems, which were then packaged by assembly line workers and sold. -
Arcane industry in Dominion: Potion production
Industrialized potion manufacturing in Alinor used imported ingredients and spring water from Valenwood. Alchemists were employed to assemble mixtures of plant compounds and oversee their brewing. Using assembly lines, the resulting mixtures were bottled, packaged and sold. Health potions were popular for curing cutaneous injuries, various burns and hangovers. Mana potions were used by wizards and military battlemages. Water breathing potions sold well in coastal settlements. -

Popular enchantments included self-heating undershirts, anti-static sweaters, levitating shoes, night vision glasses and fire-resistant aprons. -
Calori Model formulated
Regius Calori, an Imperial quantum alchemist, formulated the Calori Model of Atoms, proving that atoms had a central nucleus and that they were orbited by electrons in a tight circle. While previous Dunmer atomic theories proposed similar models, they all assumed that magic was the force keeping the atoms in orbit, Regius Calori proposed a new force, called the strong nuclear force. -
Dominion spies publicly executed
Penitus Oculatus, asked by Empress Adriana Tiberius to root out the Dominion's eyes and ears in the Empire, discovered that Vittorana Arrale, the Shadow Foreign Chancellor, was a high-ranking Dominion spy and an Elven sympathizer. As a response, the Empire threatened to kill more Dominion spies. -
Gas warfare legalized
Seeing the usage of battlemages as increasingly obsolete and ineffective, the Dominion legalized gas warfare and began stockpiling various chemicals, including phospine, bosarium gas, mustard gas and the newly-discovered fearsome ehlinese gas, capable of dissolving flesh upon skin contact. The first tank built in Orsinium
Finding their Thrqushk cars to be inadequate in wartime conditions due to their civilian-oriented engineering, the Orcish engineers bought a fleet of Tuktu cars from Hammerfell and upgraded them with thick plate armoring. After the wheels stopped moving due to the car's heavy weight, the first treads were invented, also coming with the benefit of making the vehicle good in all terrains. Called a tank, this invention was incredibly expensive and only three such vehicles were built in Orsinium -

Unified Aedric Theory released
Called the most brilliant thought in the history of Tamriel, Aneere Dralaram formulated the Unified Aedric Theory. Uniting Arcanogravital Theory and the Calori Model with the Electromagnetic Theory, Aneere formulated gravity, strong nuclear force and electromagnetism to be three separate outlets for Aedric power, a.k.a. magic. Her theory proved that all these forces were fundamentally identical and that omnipresent magical fields of Aedric origin in Mundus caused almost all physical phenomena. -
Unified Aedric Theory accepted
Aneere Dralaram's Unified Aedric Theory was relentlessly attacked by her skeptical peers, but none managed to disprove it. Her theory finally proved that everything existed due to the Aedra and united science, magic and religion into a single fundamental force. The proof that magic was the source of all of the natural forces meant that, theoretically, extremely high-powered magical spells could be used to completely transform all laws of physics, proving that Mundus was a fragile place. -
Aftermath of the Frostfall Revolution
The Republic of Hammerfell took actions to lower unemployment and won back some of its public support. The Kolhaduranga Movement was banned. Fahima Fihri-Kundayo, the leader of Redguard syndicalists, fled to Skyrim and joined the nascent Democratic Republic of Skyrim in performing a world revolution.
