Purges begin in Union of Mahakhist Syndicates
First Secretary Falaris Eldhren launched a campaign to purge many former Sathenist members of the Sathenist Workers Party, calling them traitors to the cause of Mahakhism and followers of Nelvel Meryvi. Detained Dunmeri syndicalists were either killed or deported to the secret prison camps of Telvanni Islands. Luckier "traitors" were sent to brutal reeducation camps, where their brains were washed. Eldhren began replacing Vivie Satheno's legacy with his own cult of personality. -
Birth control invented
An alchemist called Daero Bercalion, working in the University of Dusk, discovered that ingesting powdered Nirnroot, treated with an alkaline solution of balgium ouafoyadium (BgFO) and metallic hvitium (Hv), induced stillbirth of children in pregnant women. While the powder wasn't completely harmless and was later revealed to be carcinogenic, women nevertheless used this novel birth control method to terminate unwanted pregnancies. -

The Imperial Legion and law enforcement stood idly by and refused to imprison Marius. -
Third International held in Tear
The Third International of Mahakhist, syndicalist, anarchist and secularist groups was held in Tear, a city in the Union of Mahakhist Syndicates. The Sathenism-Mahakhism of Morrowind was heavily promoted and Falaris Eldhren advised the syndicalist parties of Tamriel to stop collaborating with the capitalist parties and restart revolutionary actions. The Aenelfist Syndicate of Skyrim left the International, as they did not wish to go down a path of violence again. -
Revolutionary Workers Party banned in Summerset Isles
Omniseer Faeron Minyadan declared the violent Revolutionary Workers Party banned in the Isles due to their terror campaigns, while ignoring similar violations by the Thalmor Party. This removed the only force still capable of countering Thalmor advances. All syndicalists were disarmed, with resisters imprisoned or exiled. Nithron Almadrean, the syndicalist Archmagister, was exiled to the Empire and the position remained empty until the next elections. -
Durion Thorontur meets with Faeron Minyadan
Durion Thorontur held a secret meeting with Omniseer Minyadan. Thorontur demanded to be made into the new Archmagister, but Minyadan was hesitant. Veryan Rûdhon became the Magister of the Interior and Ana Mafortion became the Magister of Culture. -
Thalmor terror in the Isles
After Veryan Rûdhon became the Magister of the Interior, he used his authority to imprison all "threats to the Republic". Anti-Thalmor military officers, officials and regional leaders were arrested and charged with treason, while syndicalist movements were eradicated. Rûdhon acted exactly like Thorontur ordered him to act and wasn't allowed an independent thought. Omniseer Faeron Minyadan's powers were being eroded with unprecedented speed. -
Social changes in the Empire of Yokuda
In the Empire of Yokuda, the corporativist Yoku Power Party banned homosexuality, calling it a weakness. Interracial marriages between Redguards and other races were banned, as they "diluted Yokudan blood". Prostitution was heavily prosecuted and skooma trade was virtually wiped out. Gambling, formerly a popular past-time in Hammerfell, was criminalized. All students in schools and universities had to swear an oath of loyalty to defend the Empire of Yokuda with their life. -
Yokudafication of Hammerfell
The Yoku Power Party wished to eventually ban the usage of Modern Tamrielic and revert to the Yoku language, spoken by the ancestors of modern Redguards. President Mona forced the schools of Hammerfell to aggressively implement his Edewimi Act, which demanded all primary school students to be proficient in the language. Civil servants who refused to study Yoku were fired. The Inkonzo ye Tekisetsuna Lugha (Ministry of Proper Language) was established to observe the adoption of Yoku. -
Radar technology invented
Royal Wayfarer Hallas Tahromus discovered that radio signals could be used to detect metallic objects, both in the sky and on the ground. Finding no use for this discovery, he passed it on to his colleagues, who theorized that the invention could be used to detect objects like bombers and fighter planes. Heavy construction began in the Empire, mostly localized in the Imperial City, Daggerfall, Solitude, Leyawiin and Anvil, five cities experiencing explosive population growth. -
Color photography and liquid crystals discovered
Inventing the RGB color system, Altmeri scientist Genewyn Quijor from the Royal Wayfarers built the first camera capable of taking color photographs. The technology was later applied to film, which allowed the first color movies to be made. Quijor also described creating liquid crystals and observed their curious, seemingly impossible movements. She discovered that they responded to electric signals, but failed to apply the discovery practically. -

Red Skyrim
After the Second Civil War and the Helarchen Compact, the left-wing Aenelfist Syndicate was elected to rule over the Kingdom of Skyrim. By 5E 276, Skyrim had grown prosperous, with high social mobility, little corruption, a strong welfare state, guaranteed civil liberties and the lowest unemployment rate in all of Tamriel. The Kingdom of Skyrim and the Union of Mahakhist Syndicates were the only two syndicalist states in Tamriel. As opposed to the UMS, Skyrim had freedom of speech and democracy. -
Massacre of Rihad leaves hundreds dead
In Rihad, a demonstration by college students against the new socially repressive laws of the ruling Yoku Power Party was violently dissolved by the internal security forces of the Yokudan Empire. Soldiers fired into the rioting crowds, killing at least a hundred people and leaving many more injured. Left without hope and fearing for their lives, liberal Redguards escaped eastwards. During this time, Hammerfellian émigré communities sprung up in Skyrim and Cyrodiil. -
Anvil Massacre
Dragon League, learning of an incoming influx of Redguard dissidents from Hammerfell, settled in to greet them. After a flotilla carrying the entirety of University of Rihad's collegiate arrived in the docks of Anvil, the League attacked the ships with magic and set them on fire, killing all of their occupants. As the Dragon League had completely infiltrated the Imperial law enforcement in Anvil, they faced no punishment for the horrible crime. -

The Thalmor Party, furious over the fact that they still couldn't achieve an absolute majority in the High Council, accused the Republic of voting fraud. Falnaro Minyadan, Faeron's son, continued as the Archmagister. -
Victory March adapted
After the Thalmor failed to gain a meaningful majority in the elections, Durion Thorontur devised the Victory March. According to the plan, Veryan Rûdhon was to use his position as the Magister of the Interior to arrest all disobedient civil servants. The Thalmor Talons, led by Thalia Mafortion, were to detain Falnaro Minyadan and other anti-Thalmor politicians. Furthermore, she was to use threats and bribes to allow Thalmor sympathizers to take over non-Thalmor political parties. -
The Neverending Walk
Acting as per the Victory March, Magister of the Interior Veryan Rûdhon authorized Republican law enforcement to arrest all civil servants who had previously been affiliated with any organized syndicalist movements. Overriding Archmagister Falnaro Minyadan's powers, Rûdhon ordered all arrested servants to be entered to concentration camps, where they were forced to do hard labor. At least 20,000 Altmer were marched into these camps, a process colloquially called the Neverending Walk. -
Thalmor Party outlawed by the Republic of the Summerset Isles
Archmagister Falnaro Minyadan, calling the Neverending Walk a virtual coup attempt, outlawed the Thalmor Party and ordered the arrest and exile of Durion Thorontur and his followers. However, Rûdhon held a tight grip over the internal security forces of the Republic, who refused to carry out the order. The High Council was dominated by Thalmor sympathizers and vetoed Minyadan's decision to ban the Thalmor Party. -
All political parties under Thalmor control
Under Thalia Mafortion's orders, the Thalmor Talons were sent to bribe and intimidate the leaders of the Democratic Syndicalist Party and the Alinori Party. With very little effort, the Alinori Party was taken over by sympathizers of Durion Thorontur and merged with the Thalmor Party, finally giving the Thalmor a majority in the High Council. The Democratic Syndicalist Party refused to yield. Their leaders were arrested by the Talons. -
Falnaro Minyadan disappears
Durion Thorontur assumed direct control over the Talons for the final stage of the Victory March: getting rid of Archmagister Falnaro Minyadan. Under the guise of peace negotiations, Falnaro was invited to Thalmor headquarters to resolve the tense political situation. He never made it out from the headquarters, as he had vanished into thin air. The Thalmor suggested that Falnaro had realized the wrongness of his actions and submitted to a course of "reeducation". His corpse was never found. -
Emergency elections in the Isles
After the Victory March led to the consolidation of power in the hands of the Thalmor Party, new elections were called for. With a combination of voting fraud and genuine popular support, the Thalmor Party (blue) easily won 90% of the seats in the High Council. The Democratic Syndicalist Party (purple), weakened by attacks from the Thalmor Talons, won 10% of seats. Their councilors never had the chance to assume their seats, because they were all arrested and imprisoned as traitors. -
Dominion of Summerset Isles established
After winning emergency elections, Durion Thorontur appointed himself the Archmagister of the Summerset Isles. He officially declared the Republic of the Summerset Isles to be extinct and the Dominion of the Summerset Isles to be established. The new regime enjoyed widespread popularity among the Altmer and spontaneous rallies were held all around the Isles in celebration. Although there were quite a few dissidents, they were forced to stay quiet or face imprisonment. -
Summerset Isles slide into totalitarianism
After taking over the Summerset Isles, the Thalmor launched a reign of terror. All political parties except the Thalmor Party were eradicated. Politicians who had spoken out against the Thalmor were imprisoned, while non-Altmer residents of the Isles were brutalized and harassed. Vacant political offices were filled with Thalmor sympathizers, who used census information to harass anti-Thalmor activists. Concentration camps were constructed in the Isle of Auridon, where "Manmer" were held. -
"Manmer" passage from "A Path to the Gods"
"There is a disgusting parasite on the move, and its name is Manmer. It looks and acts like an Altmer, but owns the mind of a Human. It is actively engaged in digging the grave of the Elvish folk. Its three fangs: syndicalism, liberalism and pacifism, are sucking the yellow out from the skin of the Altmer. This parasite can impersonate everyone: your spouse, your child, your friends, your neighbor. Uprooting these ghastly beasts, locking them in cages and exterminating them is our holy task." -
Television now widespread
While the Empire was just beginning to create the first TV channels, the Royal Wayfarers had developed the technology to allow most middle-class Altmer to buy and own TV sets. Many channels were created around the Isles, with most adhering to Thalmori ideologies. Television programs included movies, documentaries, news, weather forecasts, sporting events, the broadcasting of Thalmori rallies and ideological programs about Elven supremacy. A few channels were dedicated to religious content. -
The Hleed Wend
The military force of the Summerset Isles, the Royal Elvish Army, was staffed by ultraconservative Altmeri generals, most of whom were over 150 years old. They didn't trust Durion Thorontur, due to his young age and his radical beliefs. After the Dominion of Summerset Isles was proclaimed, Thorontur ordered anti-Thalmor military officers to be slaughtered. During the Hleed Wend (Great Journey in Aldmeris), 8,000 officers were kidnapped and executed by the Thalmor Talons. -

Mona and Thorontur both agreed that the two nations needed more allies to pull off the Third Great War. Redguards were proclaimed Honorary Elves in the Summerset Isles and Altmer were proclaimed Noble Foreigners in Hammerfell. -
"Redguards" passage from "A Path to the Gods"
"Although they are Humans, I have never believed the Redguards to be inferior to the Altmer. Theirs is an ancient civilization, full of esteemed warriors, brave heroes and wise thinkers. The Altmer have invaded Hammerfell two times, and lost both times. Their devotion to the defense of their homeland is truly admirable. Afeef Azzi, a son of Hammerfell, taught me that Nirn was not created for soft-hearted people, it belongs to the warriors." -
High living standards achieved in High Rock
The Federation of High Rock reached a milestone after only 3% of its population were found to live under the Imperial poverty marker of 10 septims per day. Politics of High Rock was dominated by regional blocs of economically liberal parties. The wealthy Breton middle class defined the cultural and fashion trends of the Empire. Although High Rock had grown wealthy and stable, growing Reachmen insurgency in Western Reach threatened to spiral out of control. -

Morohtar did not join the Thalmor Party, making him the only non-Thalmor member of the government. -

In utter secrecy, diplomatic contacts were launched between the League and the Thalmor. -
Magna Theory formulated
After he noticed that some of the less bright Magna Ge seemed to be red-shifted, elderly College of Whispers researcher Gilgandial Adus proposed the Magna Theory, suggesting that all Magna Ge were gigantic balls of Aedric energy, just like Magnus. Much to the disappointment of Thorontur, no alliance was signed. -
Imperial Legion makes a grim prognosis
Emperor Gaius Tiberius demanded the Imperial Legion to compile an assessment about the readiness of the Legion in case of war with the Dominion. The assessment was grim: if a combined Yokudan-Thalmor force were to attack the Empire, the chances of the Empire surviving were slim. His subordinates feared him, his allies were suspicious of his motives and his enemies underestimated his capability to do extraordinary evil. -
Biography: Antonius Brutus Marius
Antonius Brutus Marius was born in 5E 254. His father, Polyrbian Marius, was a slaver active in the Redoran slave trade, while his mother, Iulia Marius, died during childbirth. Polyrbian contracted mercenaries to raid Elsweyr and bring back healthy specimens, whom he sold to Morrowind. After the Serjo Revolution, Dunmeri Mahakhists banned slavery. Polyrbian was arrested and executed by the UMS. This event galvanized Antonius's anti-Elvish views and he joined the Dragon League shortly thereafter. -
Composition of the Dragon League
Dragon League operated as a mixture of a clandestine political organization, a well-armed paramilitary force and a research institute. Through manipulation, the League had infiltrated all high-level elements of the Imperial government. The agenda of the League was to destroy the Empire and install an Imperial supremacist totalitarian state in its place. By 5E 279, the League had over 2 million members. All soldiers and agents of the League wore gas masks, in order to conceal their identities. -

All Argonians are ordered to return to Argonia by the Hist trees
Quite worryingly, all Argonians were recalled to Argonia by the Hist trees, giving out a clear indication that something major was going to happen. Many workplaces, schools and troop battalions saw their Argonian members quickly depart for Argonia, leaving their former jobs and homes vacant. Back in Argonia, the An-Xileel began training all Argonians in the art of modern combat, seeing an opportunity to extend its borders into the Nibenean Valley. -
Dominion of the Isles surpasses the Imperial Legion
Dominion of Summerset Isles had upgraded its military enough to surpass the Imperial Legion. While they still lacked the raw manpower and the good morale of the Legion, the Dominion forces had superior technology, less corruption and more dynamic strategies. Furthermore, every Dominion soldier was required to be proficient in Destruction and Alteration magic. Although powerful and well-armed, the Dominion armies still had one crucial flaw: their inability to fight a sustained war of attrition. -
Television spreads worldwide
The technology of television spread all around Tamriel. Many television stations were set up, while innovations were made to improve upon the original concept. An inventor in Skingrad built the first color TV, while the principles behind plasma television were laid down in the College of Whispers. Early TV sets featured bad sound quality, poor picture quality and were open to signal interference, but nevertheless became extremely popular. -
Shimmerene Declaration signed
The Thalmor Party signed the Shimmerene Declaration, declaring that the number one goal of the Party was to ensure the domination of Mer over Men: this meant the elimination of the Empire and installation of Elven supremacy over Tamriel. The Shimmerene Declaration differentiated between Redguards and the rest of the humans, it also made an exception for beastfolk. The declaration ominously stated that there must be an eternal solution for the Men-Mer conflict. -
"The Future" passage from "A Path to the Gods"
"And so we Thalmor have decided to end the mistaken isolationist policies of our predecessors. We take up where we broke off after the First Great War. We turn our eyes toward the fertile lands of Humans. At last, we break free of the Isles and acquire soil for our children to call their own. If we speak of soil in Tamriel today, we primarily have in mind Cyrodiil and its many vassals. To make room for Elvish expansion, it is vital for the natives of Cyrodiil to be uprooted and exterminated." -
The Compact signed
In the city of Shimmerene, the Empire of Yokuda, Dominion of the Isles, Dominion of Valenwood, State of Argonia and the Republic of Orsinium signed the Compact: a military-economical union of nations set up as an alternative to the Empire. The Compact's secondary purpose was to be an united military framework for its members to coordinate their future attacks. In the Compact, strategies were discussed and formulated for the coming Third Great War. -
Synod attacked by the Dragon League
After learning of the Project Aetherius, Antonius Brutus Marius ordered the League to invade Synod's headquarters in Solstheim. Countless Synod wizards were murdered as the League stole their research data and prototypes. Marius threatened to sell the data to the Thalmor unless he was installed as the High Chancellor. The Emperor refused his request. Fortunately, Penitus Oculatus agents managed to locate the stolen research papers on the corpse of a killed League member and a crisis was averted. -
Peace Council held in Daggerfall
Kingdom of Daggerfall, fearing an all-out war between the Empire and the Dominion, held a peace council. Both sides considered the Peace Council pointless and left after two days of negotiations. -
Dragon League invades Kvatch
After taking out Synod, Dragon League gave out orders to their sympathizers in Kvatch to act. Dragon League used high-powered magic and artillery strikes to take out neighboring legions and caused massive casualties among the Legio V Trebatus. Risking a full-blown war, Emperor Gaius Tiberius went to meet with Antonius Brutus Marius. -
Emperor almost slain in Kvatch
Emperor Gaius Tiberius arrived to negotiate a truce with Antonius Brutus Marius and the Dragon League. During the meeting, the League killed the Emperor's entourage and Marius personally stabbed the Emperor. The severely injured Emperor was rescued as Fabius Lucius gave orders for the Imperial Legion to encircle Kvatch and remove League presence from Colovia. As many officers of the Legion were loyal to Marius, a lot of "friendly fire" accidents took place during the Siege of Kvatch. -

Battle of Corinthe
The troops of Thalmor-aligned Kingdom of Pelletine crossed the Ya'Tirrje Oasis and besieged Corinthe, the capital of Elsweyr Confederacy. Expecting an easy campaign, the Pelletine armies were relentlessly attacked by a combined force of Anequinian troops and the Imperial Legion. Padoth Condor bombers from Summerset Isles launched a bombing campaign, turning the city of Corinthe into a pile of rubble. Redguard, Bosmeri and Altmeri volunteers arrived to help the Pelletinian side. -
Republic of Vvardenfell sees its living standards rise
The Republic of Vvardenfell, the ultra-capitalistic land of vices, saw its living standards rise meteorically as many former offences, like prostitution and drug use, were legalized. Huge casino-hotel complexes in Ald-Ruhn turned the city into one of the most popular vacation destinations in Tamriel, Suran had the most striptease clubs per capita in Tamriel, while New Vivec, controlled by the Camonna Tong, became the center of drug trafficking to the Empire. -
Military industrialization in Bruma
In Bruma, massive national military factories were built to produce tanks and airplanes for the war effort. Drafting their work force from all races and all walks of life, the factories allowed workers and new immigrants to Cyrodiil to earn good wages while producing necessary war equipment. While a few undercover Dragon League workers did manage to commit suicide bombings in the factories, the atmosphere remained cooperative and friendly, with Elves, beastfolk and humans working side-by-side. -
Battle of Greenvale
The Anequinian city of Greenvale fell to the advancing mechanized Pelletine troops after it was bombed during a sustained attack of attrition. The city held important logistical centers for Anequina and its loss was dearly felt. The Imperial Legion pulled most of its troops out of Elsweyr, feeling the need to conserve them for an eventual war with the Dominion. This left Anequina weakened and defenseless. -
Suicide bomber slaughters the Elder Council
A Dragon League suicide bomber gained entrance to a meeting of the Elder Council and detonated himself, causing 120 Elder Councillors to die and 50 further Councillors to suffer injuries. This heinous act made holding emergency elections a necessity and weakened the Imperial administration somewhat. High Chancellor Fabius Lucius ordered the Penitus Oculatus to snuff out all Dragon League cells within Cyrodiil, but soon came to realize that the Oculatus itself was being taken over by the League. -
The Aldmeri Dominion restored
The Dominion of Summerset Isles officially extended an offer of merging to the Dominion of Valenwood, led by the Thalmor Party of Valenwood. The two Dominions merged together and the Aldmeri Dominion was restored. Although this was disallowed under the Crystal Concordat, the Empire was reluctant to act and technically allowed the merger to happen. Large parades were held in Summerset Isles and Valenwood to celebrate the vindication of the Second Great War. -
Battle of Orcrest
After the bloody Battle of Orcrest was won by Pelletine forces, they took the city over and began advancing northwards. The Kingdom of Pelletine declared itself independent from the Empire and formally asked the Aldmeri Dominion armies to help. Dominion forces started to use long-range bombers to blow Anequinian cities to shreds. The resulting carnage shocked observers from the Empire, as it proved that the military of the Dominion had advanced enough to threaten the Empire. -
Imperial war plans sold to the Thalmor
In the city of Firsthold, Antonius Brutus Marius held a secret meeting with Archmagister Durion Thorontur and handed him the battle plans of the Imperial Legion. Although Thorontur and Marius had incredibly low opinions of each other, their hatred of the Empire united them into a tense alliance. -

His conciliatory cabinet included many of his former political enemies, including Xanin Sexer and Marallia Tullario, in executive roles. -
Kvatch retaken
After a long and bloody siege, the Imperial Legion managed to restore Kvatch under Imperial rule, driving the Dragon League back into the Colovian Highlands. Antonius Brutus Marius was nowhere to be seen, but documents left behind proved that the Dragon League had been cooperating with the Thalmor, as the two radical movements sharing the same goal of deposing the Empire. This information was made public in order to deter people from joining the League. -
Elsweyr Civil War ends
After Alabaster fell to the troops of Pelletine, King R'iira of Anequina capitulated to the Dominion of Elsweyr, wishing to keep the rest of Anequina from experiencing the horrors of war. The Imperial administration of Anequina was removed from power and replaced with a Thalmor-backed one, thereby reuniting the two kingdoms of Elsweyr under a Khajiiti nationalist ideology. The new Dominion of Elsweyr, however, was left devastated by the brutal war and refused to join the Aldmeri Dominion. -
Synod restarts their research
Due to the attack by the League on the Synod's research facility in Solstheim, Project Aetherius had stopped for two years. After Synod had replenished their numbers, new facilities were built in Solstheim and the wizards of Synod moved back into the cold wastelands. Within these new facilities, research was continued to harness the harshest powers the Gods allowed mortals to use. -

A pact of neutrality was signed, with both states agreeing not to attack each other. Eldhren offered Lucius a military alliance, but demanded the island of Solstheim in return. Lucius reportedly told him that he'd rather ally himself with Sheogorath than with the Dunmer, prompting Eldhren to storm off in a fury. -

She felt like the horrors of the Second Great War were about to repeat themselves and asked the public to come out on the streets and stop Archmagister Thorontur's regime. The letter, smuggled out of the prison by sympathetic jail guards, was widely reproduced in the Summerset Isles. Thalmor banned the letter's distribution and executed Forea. -
An excerpt from Forea's Declaration
"For a single year, I did believe in the Thalmor. I thought of them as necessary evil. I was glad to see that some of the most outstanding Altmer were their members. But Durion killed them all, one by one. Our Summerset Isles, which was a nation of intellectuals and artists, of wizards and noblemen, Durion has made into a nation of murderers and hermits. He is alone, without family, without Gods. He is guided by his dark mind alone. His rule could lead to only one thing - catastrophe." -
Breakthrough made in nuclear weapons research
The Royal Wayfarers, researching the usefulness of nuclear warfare, discovered that radioactive metals like akatoshene (Ak) and vaanium (Vm) could be purposefully induced to go supercritical, thereby causing a nuclear meltdown to occur. The UMS considerably expanded its air forces, called the People's Foyada. Overall, the UMS had a well-equipped military and was roughly equal to the armies of the Dominion, Hammerfell and the Empire. -
Weapons: Gladio-Sagitta N9 & Molamer-12
Gladio-Sagitta N9 (top) was the main weapon of the Imperial Legion and the Nordic Høgnakørstarmannar. With its simplified and compact structure, the Gladio-Sagitta N9 was inexpensive, reliable and easily mass-produced. Dunmeri soldiers used the Molamer-12 (bottom), a fearsome weapon constructed out of ebony and depleted akatoshene. Although it was expensive and heavy to carry around, the Molamer-12 was considered to be the most powerful and deadly submachine gun in Tamriel. -
