Start of the War
The war broke out in 1914 which caused a lot of people to get either forced by people into the war or enlist for the war. Stanley S. Lane enlisted on October 17th, 1917 at 16 years old without any of his family members knowing that he was going to enlist, they disapproved but he went anyway. -
Groups
They broke the soldiers into the 22nd and 23rd Calgary so they could separate into different groups. Stanley was in the 22nd Calgary and got separated into that section for travels. -
Horse-drawn artillery
The war had horse-drawn artillery which is one person on a horse carrying a cannon to war for travel. Stanley had a horse, he had never seen a horse before and he wanted to try it out and he really liked it, he wasn't scared at all. -
Travels
Traveled from Texas to Alabama for training and for other little things they needed to do during the war, In Texas, they went to a place called China Springs, and they stayed there for about 6 months. They went to Alabama to train in mountain practices so they could be fit and aware. -
Blue Devil Training
They had blue devil training monitored by French officers, who told them what to do and watched them train, He was a part of the special training, he did not go overseas, he didn't have citizenship and when he went to go get citizenship they did not allow him through. -
End of war (extra one)
He went back to duty and then a couple of months later, Stanley S. Lane was discharged from the war, he said the war was "practically over" the next month so he wasn't too bothered.
