  • The First Colony was founded,Virginia.

  • Massachusetts was founded.

  • New Hampshire was founded.

  • British soldiers marched out of Boston with the order of ammunition that rebellious colonists, the first shots had been fired in what was to become the American War of Independence.

  • The Continental Congress cut off all ties to Britain. The Declaration of Independence was issued (4th July, 1776) by Thomas Jefferson. It officially named the colonies “The United States of America”.

  • Battle of Saratoga.

  • American forces captured the British army at Saratoga. The soldiers were captured and then sent back to England. Benjamin Franklin (ambassador to France) convinced France to join in the war.

  • Treaty of alliance.

  • French King Louis XVI signed an Alliance with the Americans. Most of the fighting took place in the southern colonies.

  • The English surrender in Yorktown.

  • George Washington, leading a combined American and French army surrounded English troops in Virginia. French ships arrived and trapped the British army, led by Cornwallis. He finally surrendered

  • Congress asked for a Constitutional Convention to be held. It was led by Washington The purpose was to revise the Articles of Confederation.they issued the Constitution of the United States,new system of government: a federal government.

  • A law called “Northwest Ordinance” protected Amerindians’ rights to land and liberty.

  • The first factory was opened in the US (because by the end of the Independence War, the United States was a land for farmers).

  • The Bill of Rights Ten amendments were added to the Constitution, because the original one said nothing about the rights and freedoms of individual citizens.

  • Louisiana purchase from France (Napoleon needed money to fight against Britain). President Jefferson wanted explorers to go beyond Louisiana (lands known as Oregon).

  • The explorers were Lewis and Clark, who arrived to the Pacific Ocean. This became known as the Oregon Trail.

  • The US and Britain signed a peace treaty, although some weeks later Britain attacked New Orleans and was defeated by Andrew Jackson’s army. The war impeded the US from trading, so they started making their own manufactured goods.

  • • Britain and France were at war (1803 - 1815). Both countries’ warships interfered with American trade. In addition, the British took American seamen to fight in the war.

  • Another law called “Indian Removal Act” was passed, it said that all Amerindians east of the Mississippi River would be moved to “Indian Territory”.

  • Thousand of Cherokee´s people were forced to march overland to Oklahoma. Amounts of them died during this journey (The Trail of Tears).

  • Oregon Treaty (with Britain). Oregon was annexed. • In 1846 - 1848 was the Mexican-American War.

  • Mexican territories were annexed (California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado).

  • Lincoln becomes president and declares the civil war and also women can vote

  • Starts the civil war and the U.S passed the Crittenden-Johnson resolution.

    these battles will change the way and memory of the united states. while the origins are complex,the main motive was slavery and the interpretation of the constitution and the norms,rights and titles it embodies.

  • Lincoln signs the abolition to end the slavery from 1863.

  • Battle of Chickamauga this battle is the most important defeat from the union to west.

  • The fall of Atlanta. This helped to Lincoln to become president again.

  • Finish the war. Lincoln was attacked and he dies the next day. And signs the abolition against the slavery.

  • Russia and America sing the treaty to have Alaska to US.

  • Colorado is admitted as new state of America.

  • Manila capitulates in the Spanish American war.

  • Treaty of Paris, Spain cedes Puerto Rico to united states.
