Exposition 1-Background
Newt's older brother Chris is the star of the Appleton football team, the Fillmore Ferrets. Newt's best friends are named JJ and Cecil. Newt has always felt like he was living in his brother's shadow. People even say: "I didn't know Chris Newman had a little brother!" -
Exposition 2-Setting
This story takes place in the present, on the last Friday in October to around November 7th. It maybe takes place in around 2008. -
Exposition 3-Characters (First Part)
Newt Newman: Main Character, 10 years old, mature for his age. He is a very good artist, and likes to draw lots of unique and creative superheroes. He is good friends with JJ and Cecil, but is used to being in the background. JJ: JJ, short for Juanita Josephine Gonzalez, is Newt's friend. She is the tallest girl in the fourth grade, and is very smart. She likes to use lots of big words, and loves to read. -
Exposition 3-Characters (Second Part)
Cecil: Cecil is another one of Newt's friends. He is short and skinny, but has a big voice. He is funny, and encourages Newt's artistic skills. He dreams of becoming a drummer someday, but his parents won't let him get a drum set. He is obsessed about Halloween, and likes to take charge. Chris: Chris Newman is Newt's older brother, and the star of the Appleton football team. He is knocked into a coma by the Merrimac Chargers for most of the book. -
Rising Action-Conflict
Chris Newman takes a bad tackle in the Merrimac-Fillmore football game, and is knocked into a coma. He has to go to the hospital, but the game is still won. -

Captain Nobody

Rising Action 1
Cecil, Newt, and JJ need to find Halloween costumes, but all Newt can think about is his brother. He has a hard time finding a costume, until he sees his brother's old clothing, and dresses up as a superhero. All the people handing out candy ask him who he is, and he replies: "Captain Nobody!" -
Rising Action 2
Newt's parents never have any time for him anymore. They spend so much time at the hospital, basically "babysitting" Chris, that Newt is pretty lonely. -
Rising Action 3
"Captain Nobody" rescues Mr. Clay from the dumpster, He is the locksmith, and Newt's mom considers him a little bit nuts. Newt returns him to his house, and Mr. Clay tells his wife that Captain Nobody walked him home. -
Rising Action 4
Captain Nobody helps to save a jewelry store from robbers. JJ called him on his walkie-talkie, and he rushed over. JJ is infuriated by the terrible spelling in the window, but this small problem leads to something bigger when he distracts a robber long enough for the owners to call the police. -
Rising Action 5
Newt gets to take home the mascot of the Fillmore Ferrets because his brother is the one who is hurt. The ferret's name is Ferocious, and on the way home, he runs away and into a highway! Newt impulsively runs onto the highway to rescue him, and stops traffic. Then, suddenly, an airplane appears and lands on the stretch of wide-open freeway that the cars have created. Everyone was saved!!!! -
Rising Action 6
Newt finds out that his brother won't be okay if the coma lasts for more than 6 days. Today is the sixth day, so he decides to visit Chris after school lets out. -
Rising Action 7
Newt arrives at school and hears that Reggie Ratner is on top of the water tower in what many people fear is a suicide attempt. He decides that since he is the only one that knows Darryl Peeps was the one who hit his brother, that he would go up to Reggie and talk him out of comitting suicide. he finds out, though, that Reggie just wanted to spray paint "Go Merrimac" on the water tower. Captain Nobody helps him get down, but he falls and squishes Newt into the inflated mattress. -
Climax/Turning Point
After the fall from the water tower, Newt is in the hospital. He wakes up, and demands to see Chris. He sees Cecil on TV and his parents tell him about all the publicity he's been getting. He sees Chris and is really worried that he won't get better. The next morning, he has an impulse to shout "HIT THE SHOWERS!!!!!!!!!!!" to his brother like he did every morning at home. And then, miraculously, Chris wakes up! -
Falling Action 1
Newt and Chris get to come home after they both recover! Newt is amazed to find himself in his own room after being in the hospital. They both are really famous. -
Falling Action 2
Newt is famous! His picture is everywhere, on TV, in the papers, and more! He is a celebrity! -
Falling Action 3
Everyone gets gifts as a result of being so involved in the excitement. JJ gets a pair of diamond earrings, Cecil gets a new drum set, and Newt gets the golden Key to the City! -
Resolution 1
Chris has acknowledged that Newt was the real hero, and that Newt should ride in the parade, not him. He says this on TV, and everyone, including the reporter is astonished. -
Resolution 2
Newt gets to ride in the parade on the mayor's car! Ferocious the Ferret, JJ, and Cecil ride with him. -
Resolution 3
Newt's family celebrates, and Newt and Chris are together again. Chris even tells him a story where an old woman didn't know NEWT had an older brother! They both laughed, and went to sleep happy and safely once again.
