Johnson's impeachment trial
In March 1867 Congress passed the Tenure of Office Act over his veto, which is a United States federal law that was intended to restrict the power of the president to remove certain office-holders without the approval of the Senate. So basically the senate accused Johnson of trying to remove Edwin N. from office. The votes were cast in February 24, 1868 and Johnson barely remained in office by 1 vote. -
