The encounter in Fort Sumter
The battle arose because the U.S. Army didn't abandon a large Fort controlling the entrance of Charleston Harbor. The Confederate goverment ordered for them to leave the fort but since they refused to do so they began to attack until the army finally gave up. The First Battle of Bull Run
The battle occurred because the Union army was trying to get the Confederate capital of Richmond. . Since the soldiers had a lack of training they were going slow and that allowed the Confederates to strengthen their army allowing them to win that battle. Lincoln opposed slavery but he didnt believe that the authority should just abolish it like that. He wasn't pro nor againt it so he didnt care about what the South thought about it. The North needed money so they started 3 percent of peoples earnings. This was a huge issue because many people didnt agree with the federal tax on their income. South talks with the British caused some tension between Great Britain and the U.S. The Union had captured some Confederate officials but was later forced to release them after Britain threatened with war. This was an important issue because if Britain had declared war to the U.S than they might not have had a chance to beat the Confederates.

The Battle of Shiloh
The battle of Shiloh happened because the Confederates thought that they should attack Grant’s army before the Union force got any bigger. To grants advantage reinforcement troops arrived at night helping them defeat Johnston’s confederate force even though they lost many casualties. The second Battle of Bull Run
The battle occurred because General John Pope was enraged after Lee had sent his army to destroy some of his supplies and sent his soldiers to smash Jackson. They fought on the same grounds were the First Battle of Bull Run took place. The confederates won making McClellan commander again. The Battle of Antietam
This battle arose soon after one of McClellan soldiers found a copy of Lee’s order near an abandon Confederate camp and found all lees strategies. The Confederates retreated back to Virginia after being battered. This battle was the bloodiest day in the Civil War. The Battle of Fredericksburg
The battle began after Burnside realized that McClellan had been fired for being too cautious, so he decided to make a surprise attack directly to Lee’s forces instead of crossing the river out of range of the Confederate army. This surprised Lee but because of Burnside’s low strategy the Union lost the battle. The Battle of Chancellorsville
The battle started after the Union was attacked by the Confederates after they were going to attack them from behind where all the strong Confederates were at. Lee once again divided his troops and attacked the Unions numerous men and defeated them. The Battle of Gettysburg
The battle began after the Confederates wanted to finally have victory on the north territory and would finally force the Union to give up on the war. Lee sends many of his forces to where the union was stationed committing total suicide and yielding to the wipe out of his men. The Battle Of the Wilderness
The battle occurred in the same grounds as the battle of Chancellorsville after the Confederates and the union clashed. The battle was so rough that the woods caught on fire injuring and killing many. The fire caused the casualties to accidently shoot each other killing General Longstreet, Lee’s second in command. The Battle of Petersburg
The battle occurred after the Union wasn’t able to defeat Lee’s army so he attacked his line of supplies but took many of the Unions casualties to finally cut it off. Lee was forced to retreat after losing many casualties and having his supply be cut off.
