Ivan the Terrible's Lifespan
Ivan the Terrible impacted Russia over his lifetime in multiple different ways. He was the first crowned "czar of all the Russias" and successfully took power from a majority of the russian nobles, centralizing the government and giving it structure. He gained territories in the east and expanded Russia's influence into Europe ("Ivan the Terrible"). -

Ivan Crowned Grand Prince of Russia
At the mere age of three, Ivan was crowned Grand Price of Russia according to his father's dying wishes. His early years of rule are outlined by the death of his mother, a likely poisoning, when Ivan was eight. After her death, serval nobles began clamoring for power in the Kremlin, leaving Ivan completely neglected. His activities included literature, arts, and torturing small animals. Ivan Crowned Csar of Muskovy
At the age of sixteen Ivan is crowned "Csar of all the Russias". He is the first in the country's history to officially hold the title. He was only 16 years old ("Ivan the Terrible"). -

Ivan Captures the Tartar City of Kazan
Ivan's capture of this city lead to more conquests throughout his reign. It also promoted the creation of the St. Bascil's Catherdral in honor of the capture of Kazan ("Ivan the Terrible Biography") -

Ivan had diplomatic relations with Queen Elizabeth I in order to establish trade between the two nations, as well as possibilities of an alliance. This brought Russia more into the European stage and gave it a connection to the outside world ("Ivan the Terrible"). -

Ivan's First Wife, Anastasia Romanovna, Dies
The death of Anastasia, Ivan's first wife, set him into a stage of grief and anguish that would later be called "the Reign of Terror" ("Ivan the Terrible Biography"). -

The Reign of Terror
The Reign of Terror was the time between Ivan's first wife's death and his death. In that span, he killed his son, had 6 more wives (all of which he executed), removed the eyes of the archetects of the St. Basil's Catherdral, and created his secret organization of police ("ivan the Terrible"). -

At the completion of the St. Basil's Cathedral, Ivan used his power to put out the eyes of the two archetects that had created the building so that they could "never create any structure more beautiful" ("Ivan the Terrible Biography"). -

Ivan Murders His Son
Another terrible event of the "Reign of Terror", Ivan beat his daughter in law for going out in public in clothes that he deemed immodest. His son confronted him about it, bringing them into an altercation. Ivan struck his son in the head with his staff, instantly bludgeoning and killing him ("Ivan the Terrible"). -

Ivan Leaves Moscow With Intentions of Abdictation
Ivan left Moscow in order to "resign" from being king. However, this was his trick in a way that we would call reverse psychology. The Russian people begged for him to return. He agreed, but on one condition: he was to recieve nearly full control of the government. The Russian people agreed and Ivan expqanded his power throughout Russia ("Ivan the Terrible Biography"). -

Ivan Creates the Oprichniki
Right after recieving full power and control of the government, Ivan went about disposing of a majority of the nobles. The ones he left in power he insured were loyal to him, then set them out as his own set of secret police. They established his control over Russia and strengthening his hold for over 5 years ("Ivan the Terrible"). -

The Oprichnina
The Oprichnica was a group of nobles organized into secret police. They enforced Ivan's rule and allowed acted as spies for the Czar. They Were only in existence for 7 years, when Ivan broke up the group ("Ivan the Terrible Bibliography"). -

Russia Begins Its Conquest of Siberia
Ivan allows explorers to spread to the east in hopes of expanding Russian influence ("Ivan the Terrible"). -
Ivan Dies
