    Columus sailed his first expedition, he landed in the Bahama Islands. He thought it was near Asia. King Ferdiand and Queen Isabella paid for it.

    Ponce de Leon set sail and ended up at Flordia, he got the name from the spanish word means flowers. They sailed to the east of the coast and through the keys to the west of the coast. He found there was land perfect for exploring north of the Caribbean islands.

    King Francis I sent navigator Giovanni da Verrazano westward. Giovanni reached the North Carolina and thought he saw the pacific ocean, but he was looking at the Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds. He searched up the coast, and went back to report to the king.
