Changes begin
The landholders tried to rationalize their landholdings and started the Enclosure Movement to bring more and more of their own land under tighter control, a process that went on throughout the 1700s. This new policy brought two main effects: trasnformed how the land used to work, therefore, it's productivity. And the other change was that the people who used to work on the land became unemployed, who were mostly poor labor class. -

The thrashing machine, or, in modern spelling, threshing machine (or simply thresher), was a machine first invented by Scottish mechanical engineer Andrew Meikle for use in agriculture. -

Steam engine
During the time before the industrial revolution people used to power up their industry with both water and muscle power (this last one coming from horses). But once the steam was created by James Watt and this alternative power was not only used in engines but also in locomotives, furnaces and other factors. -
Cotton frenzy
This machine was originally designed to remove cotton from it's seeds. Eli Whitney created it during the industrial revolution. -

Robert Fulton probably created one of the most iconic aspects of the industrial revolution. Even when Fulton's invention cames from American soil, it provided a lot of background to the british engineers. -

Humphry Davy, an English chemist, invented the first electric light. Davy connected two wires to a battery and attached a charcoal strip betwween the other ends of the wires. -
Victorian Britain, Victoria comes to the throne after the death of William IV
Victoria became queen at the age of 18 after the death of her uncle, William IV. She reigned for more than 60 years, longer than any other British monarch. Her reign was a period of significant social, economic and technological change, which saw the expansion of Britain's industrial power and of the British empire. -

Slavery is abolished in the British empire
In 1834, slaves in the British empire started a period of 'apprenticeship', during which they were obliged to work without pay for their former owners. When this period ended, in 1838, a lot of former slaves which can be estimated over 700,000, were freed in the british caribbean territory. Slaves' former owners were paid over £20 million in compensations by the goverment for losing their slaves. Former slaves weren't paid at all. -
Charles Dickens' 'Oliver Twist' is published
Charles Dickens was one of the greatest Victorian novelists. 'Oliver Twist' was, like many of Dickens' other novels, originally published in serial form and brought to public attention contemporary social evils. Dickens' other works included 'The Pickwick Papers', 'A Christmas Carol', 'David Copperfield' and 'Great Expectations'. -

Probably one the most iconic books and possibly Darwin's personal masterpiece is published. It contains one of the most important theories about the evolution which was developed for about 20 years of Darwin's research. This book also created some troubles by this time, mainly because it appeared to contradict the bible's creation story and call into question ideas of divine providence. -
Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, dies.
At the age of 42, Victoria's husband passes out due to a typhoid plunged condition. This particular event made Victoria disappear from the public live for a while, making the republican movement gain a lot of notoriety. -
Women obtain limited rights to retain their property after marriage
This law changed the fact that men could take total control of their wife properties once they were married. It granted some limited separate protection to a married woman's property and also permitted women to retain up to £200 of their own wages or earnings. -

When the East India Company was dissolved, India came under control of the British empire. Although at first queen Victoria was suggested by England's minister Benjamin Disraeli as flattery, as the time past she became rightful empress by 1877. -
Married women obtain the right to acquire their own property
After 1970 when the first women property act was created, married women claimed to be insufficient when it comes to safeguard women. A further act provided something approaching equality for women since it allowed women to acquire and retain any property deemed separate from that of their husband's. -

Victoria died at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight at the age of 81. As Queen-Empress she had ruled over almost a quarter of the world's population. -

The United Kingdom EC referendum of 1975, also known as the Common Market referendum and EEC membership referendum was held on 5 June 1975 in the United Kingdom to gauge support for the country's continued membership of the European Communities. This event was the same as the current one under the name of Brexit. Thatcher and her party were the key to mantain Britain as part of the European Union. -

In the June 2016 referendum, 52% voted to leave the EU, leading into a complex separation process implying political and economic changes for the UK and other countries. The timetable for withdrawal has not yet been firmly established. -
Cameron decides to leave
After six years of being prime minister, David Cameron decides to step aside from the position after the British people voted to leave the EU. Cameron claims that he's no longer capable of leading british people, since the people has choosen new horizons. -
