How to Read the Plot

    The Beginning

    In the beginning of a book you first have the exposition (background info.) Next you the rising action/inciting incident. This sets the the story in motion.

    The Middle

    In the middle of the story you have the climax. In the climax this is where the conflict intensifies. This is usually the most exciting part of the story.

    The End

    In the end this is where the falling action and the resolution occur. In the falling action is the transition from the climax to resolution (aftermath of the climax). In the resolution this is where the story wraps up and the conflicts are resolved.
