Also, the missionaries attempted to convert the natives. Unfortunately, France lost interest for 60 years.

In 1605, the king sent out a voyage to establish a settlement in Nova Scotia called Port Royale. Samuel De Champlain established it along with two another men named Pierre Dugua and Sieur de Mons. Unfortunately, Port Royale failed because it didn't have good positioning.

King Louis the 14th, the king at the time in New France, found that the economy and population was suffering and wasn’t developing. He decided to make a new system called the Royal Government. In the 1690‘s there was a beaver crisis. fur-fashion was out of style and less merchants were purchasing beaver pelts. Because of this, pelts were starting to pile up in warehouses. Therefore the King demanded a slow down in the fur trade. .After having many difficulties, the fur trade regain its strength in 1715.
