Columbus wanted to discover a faster way to get to India and Asia. He went west and thought he discovered india,but really he went to the Bahamas in the carribean. This was important because it led to further exploration in the new world.

Cortes went to Mexico to find gold.He accomplished that and brought back 6 million worth of gold. When he was there he conquered the Aztecs. He sparked futher exploration in North and South America because of the plenties of gold he found.

Pineda set sail to find a water route to the Pacific Ocean. He was the first to the Gulf Coast area from Texas to Florida. He also made a report of the region. His map led to more exploring in the area and made exploring it easier.

De Vaca started his exploration on June 27, 1527. He was led by Panfilo de Narvaez. They set off for Florida in search of gold. He was the first to explore Texas and met the Karankawas, Coahuiltecans, and the Jumanos. He aslo told of hearing about the 7 cities of gold. This got people interested to find the cities.

De Vaca landed in Texas in April of 1528. He was the first to explore texas and write about the indians. He encountered 3 tribes; the Jumanos, The Karankawas, and the Coahuiltecan. He walked around in Texas for 8 years.

Fray Marcos and Esteban set sail to Texas to verify the Seven Cities Of Gold. They explored West Texas and some of New Mexico.They told of seeing the cities, which led to conquistador Coronado being sent to search for the cities.

Moscoso set sail in1539bto searcg for gold from East texas to Florida. He went with his leader Desoto until he died and moscoso became leader.He discovered the Mississipi River.When Desoto was still alive he wore gold armour and the indians thought he was a god.when he died the Spanish through him in the Mississippi River so the Indians wouldnt know. He told everyone the same thing Coronado did so spain didnt return to Texas for 150 years.

Coronado set out for Texas because of Fray Marcos telling of the 7 cities of gold. When he got to Texas he clashed with the Zunis and did terrible things to them. He was in search for cibola and quivera. Cibola was told to be the Seven Cities of Gold run by seven priests. Quivera was told to be a completely Golden city and to be run by the Amazon women and the queen Califa.He told that Texas is horrible and to stop all travel in Texas. ******1540-1542
