The French Revolution began at the Estates-General Meeting on May 5th 1789. It was a meeting of representitives from the three Estates and they brought with them "cahiers" or books full of grievances, or burdens that they wanted changed. -

The Reign of Terror was a period of conflict and violence in France between the Jacobins and the Girondins. During this period, roughly 40,000 were killed and about 17,000 of those by guillotine. -

Siege of Toulon
The Siege of Toulon was a small French Revvolution battle that was big for Napoleon Bonaparte. The British had taken over the ort city Toulon and France reacted by making a siege on Toulon. Young Napoleon was appointed chief of artillery and devised a plan that attacked a British fort near the harbor, causing the British fleet to sail away in a retreat. -

This was Napoleon's campaign in Egypt. Its mny purpose was to strengthen French trade and block Britain's access to India. It was mildly successful until Napoleon and his forces were driven out of Egypt after a defeat in the Battl of the Nile. -

This was Napoleons civil code that he put into action. Most notably it allowed freedom of religion,and abolished the previous feudal estate system that caused the Revoltuion. -

Thus was a battle that France lost to Britain. Its goal was for France to take control of the English Channel so Napoleon could invade England. France's inexeperienced navy lost to England's top navy in Europe. -

This was one of Napoleons greatest victories as he crushed Russia, Austria, and the Holy Roman Empire. -

This was a war between Portugal and Spain and France over the Iberian Peninsula. This sparked the beginning of guerilla warfare. -

French Invasion of Russia
Napoleon gathered an army of 600,000 and marched into Russia. The Russians burned the cities in the French's path to the ground so they could not harvest supplies, this led many soldiers to starvation and death. -
Retreat from Moscow
The French Army began its retreat from Moscow back to France. Many starved. They braved a harsh Russian winter. Upon return, there was only 22,000 men left. -
Battle of Leipzig
France lost to Russia, Austria, and Sweden in what was the biggest war in Europe until World War II. -
Exile to Elba
Following defeat in the Battle of Leipzig, Napoleon was exiled to Elba, an island of the coast of Italy. -

Napoleon came back from Elba and ruled zfrance once again for 111 days before the monarchy was restored on July 8th, 1815. -

Napoleon's final battle which he lost to the United Kingdom and the 7th Coalition in Waterloo, Netherlands (present day Belgium). -

Napoleon was exiled to St Helena in December of 1815. -
Death
Napoleon Bonaparte died of stomach cancer on May 5th 1821 at the age of 51.
