In October of 1789 the women of Paris marched to Versailles, they broke into the palace and demanded Louis and Marie Antoniette to return to Paris, Some time later, Louis agreed to return. -
Louis tries to escape!
Louis and his family tried to escape, as they neared the border they were caught and sent back to Paris. Louis trying to escape makes the people anger increase, so the revolution gets more people in favor. -
The National Assembly has a new constitution
The National Assembly, in September, 1791, completed the new constitution, which Louis approved, the constitution created a limited monarchy, and a legislative body. -
The war was declared
Austria and Prussia urged the French to restore his position as absolute monarch, the legislative assembly responded declaring war. -

In 1793, Maximilien Robespierre slowly gained power. -
The French Army arises
In February, 1793, the convention ordered a draft of 300,000 French citizens between the ages of 18-40 -
The Reign of Terror
Robespierre became leader of the Committe of Public Safety. For the next year, Roberspierre governed France virtually as a dictator, and the period of his rule became the Reign of Terror. -

Georges Danton
In 1794, Georges Danton was found in danger, because he was sent by Robespierre to the guillotine. Then he died. -

In July 1794, members of the National Convention turned into Robespierre, and demanded his arrest and execution. -

Napoleon, the hero of France!
In October, 1795, fate handed Napoleon a chance of glory, when royalist rebels marched on the National Convention, a government official told Napoleon to defend the delegates, in minutes Napoleon and his gunners attacked and Napoleon became the hero of the hour, since he was the hero, they hailed him throughout Paris, telling that he was the savior of the French Revolution. -
Napoleon lead the French Army!
In 1796, the Directory appointed Napoleon to lead a French army againts the forces of Austria and the Kingdom of Sardinia, he crossed the Alps, and swept into Italy, he won a lot of remarkable victories. But when he went to Egypt to disrupt a British trade with India, Horatio Nelson beated him, he returned tu France, and managed to keep them away from the news, so he remained the hero of France. -
Napoleon seize political ower!
When Napoleon returned from Egypt, the directory had lost control of the political situation and the confidence of the French people, some friends of Napoleon told him to seize political power. -
Napoleon takes action in France.
In November, 1799, Napoleon took action, troops under his command surrounded the national legislature and drove out most of its members, the lawmakers who remained then votes to dissolve the Directory, and established a group of three consuls, one of them was Napoleon. Napoleon quickly took the title of first consul and assumed the powers of a dictator. -
UK, Austria and Russia against Napoleon
UK, Austria, and Russica joined forces to to drive Napoleon from power, then all three nations signed peace agreements with France. -
The Plebiscite
Napoleon pretended to be the constitutionally chosen leader of a free republic, in 1800, a plebiscite was held to approve a new constitution, people voted overhelmingly in favor of the constitution, this gave Napoleon all te power as first consul! -

In 1803, Napoleon sold to President Jefferson the Louisiana Territory for $15 millions. -

In 1804, Napoleon decided to make himself emperor and the French voters supported him. -

On December 2, 1804, Napoleon walked down the long aisle of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the pope waited for him, to crown him. Napoleon took the crown and crowend himself, that was a signal that he was more powerful than the Church. -

In 1805, Napoleon lost the Battle of Trafalgar, which took place in southern Spain, since it was a naval war, and Horatio Nelson was superior in naval forces than Napoleon, Horatio Nelson defeated Napoleon. -

On November, 1806, Napoleon set up a blockade to prevent all trade and communications between Great Britain and other European nations, Napoleon called this policy the Continental System because it was suposed to make continental Europe more self-suffincient, Napoleon also intended it to destroy Great Britains' commercial and industrial economy. -

The Second Mistake of Napoleon
Napoleon made his second mistake, in an effort to get Portugal to accept the Continental System, he sent an invasion force through Spain, the Spanish people protested this action, Napoleon in response removed the Spanish king and put his own brother, Joseph, on the Throne. -
The third mistake!
On 1812, Napoleon maked his worst mistake, he declared war to Russia, because they didn't stop the trade with Great Britain. -
Napoleon lost to Russia!
On June 1812, since Russia didn't pay attention to Napoleon, he marched with his army of 420,000 people to Russia. Alexander I sent his troops to Russia, so when Napoleon and his army saw there was no one to fight, plus no food, and nothing to drink they retured to France, when they were returning, the Russians whent after him a defeated him. -
