    John Eaton, secretary of war resigns from Andrew's cabinet. The Secretary of State, Martin Van Buren will also resign on April 11th. Both of them were jackson's most loyal officers. They left so that Jackson can request the resignations of all his other cabinet officers as part of a general reorganization of his government, Pretty much ending The Peggy Eaton Affair.

Georgia law can now require white residents to obtain a license to reside on Cherokee lands.The Court now recognizes that the Cherokees are separate nation, subject to the authority of the federal government, but only the federal government, as negotiated by treaties.Samuel Worcester and the other missionaries were imprisoned by Georgia for refusing to register with the state government

    The first national Democratic convention takes place in Baltimore, Maryland. Delegates attend from every state except Missouri. Andrew jacson was chosen to run the party. Martin Van Buren was chosen to run as vice president.

It was later brought up to be dealt with in a state convention called by the Georgia state legislature. The main focus was nullification. They agreed to the nullification of the tariffs of 1828 and 1832. Now if the federal government tries to force the tariff it would result in their secession.

    Martin Van Buren is elected president of the United States. He receives 51% of the popular vote and 170 votes in the Electoral College. Since none of the four candidates running for vice president received the necessary votes to win, the Senate selected Richard Johnson as the new vice president.
