Luther refuses to recant, the 95 thesis and he is excommunicated. This really told Luther that the pope was a tyrant and that he needed to start a new type of Christianity. Hence lutheranism was born. This inspired people to follow what they believe.

They still were loyal to the king, but condemned the coercive acts. This was important because, this was the first congress, this kinda laid out how an issue, that involves all the colonies, can be worked out.
