USS Hornet and 16 B-25 went on a mission to bomb Tokyo. They succeded and they could have killed the emperor if they havent dropped there bombs earlyer (source- emperor hirohito him self), this was because they flu exacky over the emperors palace and startaled everybody there. They coused small fires , but in all not alot of damage. Insted it was a propaganda campain to increase the peoples moral aboat the war. -

4:30 am the japanese send there first wave of 72 bombers and 36 fighters, to attack midway. Later that day US carrier fleet that had been waiting in abush, send 151 aircraft to attack the japanes fleet. They are able to sink 2 out of the 4 aircraft carriers. -

First great naval victory for the US, it also probably eliminated the chance of the Japanese ever wining the war. That was largly do to Japan slow aircraft carrier production and losing 4 aircraft carriers left a void they could never fill. The battle took place in the waters of the pascific ocean around midway islan. The americans were able to decifer the Japanese naval code and creat an abush. -

On the second day the americans and japanese aircraft fought over control of the skys. After 2 hours of fighting the last 2 aircraft carriers finaly sank. -

Every room on every building on every street became a battleground and eventualy general chuikov sixty second army surraunded and killed the German Sixth army. It was a huge moral boost for the russians and deminished the Idea of german invincibility. -

This could be the last major feilding of german armor on such a massive scale. After this battle germany could never recover and showed that one of its best military mineds could not defeat the russians. Russia after this battle always had the germans on the ropes and signal the bigining of the end. -

This battle seailed the Japanese defeat as they lost 3 aircraft carriers 600 planes and two destroyers to the americans only loosing 130 aircraft. I went down as the Wild turkey shoot do to the number of US aces created during that battle. -

The uprising of the warsaw ghetto and later the people around the city, showed that the germans could not leave there citys un garrisoned as they could successfuly rivolt vs the police force. Do to unrest and hatred to the Nazi occupiers the people of warsaw grew unhappy and eventualy mounted a revolt. If it wasnt for air supirioryty and that they bomeb 90% of the city killing most of the civilian polulation. -

this operation was to increase the speed of the allies liberating europe. It intailed for the British paratroopers to capture seven key bridges and to hold them until the allied armore got there. The bridge plan failed do to the first 6 bridges not being captured. The only one that was was the one at Arnhem or "the bridge to far". -

The germans were eventualy defeted by the arival of general Pattons Third army. The germans could never replenish there loses and eventualy were defited. -

Its were the Big three (roosvelt, chirchill and stalin) were soposed to decide how to carve out europe after the war. It was a compleat failer do to that nothing was agreed on exept that and I quote "we all believe that we don't like the others opinion". -
Iwo Jima
The battle of Iwo Jima. Inch by Inch the americans gained growend. In that battle a life was lost for every meter on that Island ( iwojima has an area of 24,000 meters,30,000 men died on that island its more people dead than island) It marked that the road to tokyo would be filled with death. It also showed the americans that Japan is wiling to fight to the last man (only 216 soldiers were captured out of 24,000). -

It is made famose for having the most oficial bonzai charges in a battle. 20% of the hole island was bombed. The "typhoon of Steel" is the name given to the last Japanese attakes at Mt.Shuri were they bonzi charged american soldiers. -

The battle for Berlin markes the end of the Third Riech and it also markes the end for hilter (no marco he is not in the moon). The city was almost completly destroyed and it created controversy on the sides of the americans as patton was told to let the russians go in first. If he wasent told that he would have brought V day in europe 2 days earler. Generals Zhukov Third shock army took the city in May 2 1945. The battle was proclamed over when the 142 rifledevision took the Reichstag. -

Japan after suffering to nukelr bombs finaly surrenders to the Alies. Most Japanese admirals and generals comit seppuku. Hideki Tojo almost killed himself but the US army saved his life to later execute him. He is belived to have told the doctor that was pashing him up to let him die with honor.
