Vichy France begins
After Hitler took France, he started a Regime called Vichy France. This was an enemy to the former ally, Brittain. -
Battle for Brittain
The Battle of Brittain was the largest air bombing battle in World History. This was when German air planes flew over Brittain, and started bombing it. Hitler was unsuccessful though, and did not invade the rest of Brittain. -
FDR's "shoot on sight"
Germany had been attacking american ships, so FDR approved Americans to "shoot on sight" -
Hitler breaks non-agression pact and invades Soviet Union
Code named- Operation Barbarossa, Hitler stacked a whole load of his troops into USSR territory, and tried to take the red army. But, Soviet Russia was able to repel Hitler's attack, and it led to the downfall of Hitler. -
McArthur returns
General Douglas McArthur was recalled to be a four star general after he retired. He returns to the Philippine Army to support against the Japanese Empire. -
Pearl Harbor Attacked
At Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Hundereds of Japanese Air Forces attacked American war ships parked in the waters. This thrusted America into the War. -
Hitler and Mussolini declare war on America
Very soon after the Japanese bombed America, America responded, and Hitler finally got to declare war on America. -
Battle of the Coral Sea
This battle was a landmark in Naval Warfare. It was the first battle where no one attacked each other directly, but rather back-and-forth battle involving boats and planes. This was waged in the waters near Australia, and was against the Japanese Empire. -
Bataan Death March
This was an illegal march in the Phillipines by Japanese forces that went from San Fernardo to Capas. -
Battle of Midway
This battle involved the US troops, and the Empire of Japan. It lasted for four days, and is quite possibly the biggest naval battle in US History. It is called the battle of Midway because this battle was waged at Midway Atoll. -

Also known as "Operation Watchtower," this battle was suppost to cut off Japanese resources at the southern Solomon Islands. -
German U-boats cut off Merchant ships
During the battle of the St. Lawrence, German U-boats were sinking our ships in order to controll the St. Lawrence River, and cut off trade. -
End of the Battle of Stalingrad
The Battle of Stalingrad was the battle that was the biggest turning point in the war. Hitler thought he could attack the Soviet Union allied with the Axis powers, but was pushed back by the Red Army. -
Rome falls
On this day, Rome was bombed and taken over by allied troops. Soon after, Mussolini was discharged, and exicuted. -
D-Day
This is probably the most well know battle of WW2, happening at the Beachfronts of Normandy. Also codenamed "Operation Neptune," The first part of this invasion was an airborn assult, followedby an amphibious landing. This was also probably the most bloody battle of WW2. -
Kamikaze Attacks Begin
Kamikazes were Japanese suicide bombers that would intentionaly rig their planes with explosives, and ram into US ships in order to destroy them. The first time they were used was an accident, but it gave the idea. -
Battle of the Bulge
This was a German operation in order to split the alliance of Brittain and United States troops in half. It was waged in the forests of the Ardennes Mountains. -
US flag is raised on Mt. Suribachi
After the ever-so famous battle of Iwo Jima, the United States raised the flag on the top of Mt. Suribachi marking another turning point against Japanese. -
Okinowa Falls
Okanowa, Japan is invaded ny America, and marks the final turning point for the war for Japan. -
Truman becomes President
After the tragic death of FDR, Vice Prestdent Harry Truman stepped into office, and vowed to finish what Roosevelt started. -
Hitler commits Suicide
After Berlin had fallen, Hitler thought he had no other resort, and he commited suicide at the Reich Chancellery. -
V-E Day
AKA: Victory for Europe Day, is the day the Axis power falls in Europe, and the war is won for England. -
Nagasaki gets bombed
The US drops the second ever dropped Atomic Bomb onto Nagasaki, Japan. -
Hiroshima gets bombed
Hiroshima is the first city ever to have been exterminated by the US's Atomic Bomb. -
The Formal Surrender of Japan
Aboard a US Air Craft Carrier, the forein affairs chairman of Japan signed the surrender. -
V-J Day
AKA: Victory over Japan Day, is another name for the surrender of Japan.
