French and indian war
The French Indian war was really the kick off of the hate towards Britain by the colonist, Britain made the colonist fight this war for land they did not care about they fought the French and some Native tribes with there own. It took a lot of time and money from the colonist, which made them unhappy with Britain, But the British won which they thought would be good for them. -
Treaty of 1763
The Treaty that concluded the French Indian war. Britain was the successor which was not all that great. After the war they raised taxes on the colonist which did not settle well with them. They had thought that fighting in the wart would be enough but Britain raised them anyway. After fighting for that land as well they could not have it, It was changed to be a reserve for Native tribes. -
proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation by King George, saying that all land west of the Mississippi River was off limits after the conclusion of the French & Indian war. The land was to be used as Native reserves for multiple tribes . This really pissed off the colonist and made them rebel in many ways which will be seen very soon. -
The Boston Tea Party
A large rebellion lead by The Sons Of Liberty, They went to the ports with all the tea and got on one of the british import ships and dumped 346 chest of tea into the harbor. This was an imbrasing moment for the colonies even though after they closed the harbor. -
Stamp Act
A direct tax made by the parliament of Britain. This tax made it to were all paper items weather it be mail or a bank loan, there would be a high tax on it even higher if the paper not be from britain. This made it hard for the colonies to communicate and other things. Aswell it was a struggle for newspaper business to succeed with these high taxes without charging a large some for there product. All of this just made the colonist even more hating towards Britain. -
Boston Massacre
There was a confrontation march in boston to confront the taxes that all the colonist hated, They were all marching when they were stopped by British forces. They were in na town square surrounded by the Red Coats yelling and getting yelled at. The colonist started throwing rocks which was not a good idea, Then Then one of the Red Coats fired So they all did and 5 people died, This went very public, and got the Colonies fired up. -
Intolerable Acts
Multiple Acts put in place to keep the colonies in check after the Boston Tea Party which made britain look like a fool. The acts raised taxes like the Stamp Act. They made the Quartering Act to force citizens to house british soldiers, They closed the Boston Port. Then they added the Town Shed Act to make sure they Colonies supported the british Government. All of these new things just furter pushed away the colonies from Britain. -
The Battle of Lexington and Concord
This was the first military engagement that kicked off the Revolutionary war. Not many people were expecting an reabelain but they came and hit hard where it hurts. Hundreds of British soldiers marched from Boston to fight this rag tag military that had more will power than any red coat and when the first shot was fired all hell broke loose. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
A battle that happened during the siege of Boston, The beginning stages of the american revolution that really kicked off the war. May have happened because of the Boston siege but occurred in Charlestown, Massachusetts. -
Publication of ¨Common Sense¨
A book that opened the eyes of many colonist and even people in other countries, it was the way to spread the word that people should have more freedoms in power in there governments the book that changed most loyalest into people who wanna rebel. This was a major help for the starting of the war to change people to give the continental army even a chance with out this book the tides could have changed, and most people would not know what they missed. -
Declaration of Independence
The day the colonies decided they did not want to be apart of the British anymore. They established that all people should have equal rights, Starting the revolutionary war and claiming independence from Britain, The United States of America -
Battle of Trenton
A small but vial Battle for the War. Its George Washington's Idea to cross the Delaware and Removing the War General Garrison from the city and taking it back showing there power and what they are now capable of. -
Battle of Saratoga
This was a major battle in the war. The turning point of the war because the major effort and win by the continental army. This is what scared the biggest most powerful military in the world at the time we were able to beat them in a sense that they could not see coming. -
Valley Forge
A major winter Battle, With George Washington as the Commanding General, It was clever because they had a whole community set up to help the soldiers fighting by feeding them and providing them shelter. -
The Battle of Cowpens
An attack led by the newly formed Continental Army onto the the British near the city of Cowpens. The Americans were split into groups and spread out, and they closed in slowly to wipe them out and take prisoners this is one of the last Battles of the war, Another Victory for the Continental Army. -
Battle of Yorktown
Another one of the last Battles to conclude the war, We took back Yorktown from the British with help from the French. It was a major success and was a great overall help to finishing the war. This Gave George Washington even more respect from the rest of the Country. -
Treaty of Paris 1783
The Treaty to conclude the Revolutionary war , Representatives from both America and Britain came to sign. The USA was finally free of its stings and was its own country who had just defeated the most powerful military in the world.
