William of Orange tried to invade the Netherlands from Germany. He had a about 30,000 men., but was no match for the Spanish forces. William wax forced to retreat.

William started planning and attack on the Spanish set for 1572. He couldn't fine many people from the Netherlands, but he knew France and England were there for help. He planned for another attack from Germany into the Netherlands.

On April 1,1572 William of orange and his men attacked took over brill with ease. With the taking over Brill, they gained its ports.

In 1573 Spanish forces had retaken Brill and other reble towns. The rebels were doing well until they lost Brill and its ports. The second revolt then started turning down hill

The rebel’s were able to hold onto large amounts of land by flooding it in advance to the Spanish army. They wasted no time flooding the path of travel for the army’s. The floods kept the Spanish at bay and prevented an attack at Leiden

William of Orange met with requesens at Breda in 1575. The meeting did. It go well at all. Spain had lost more then anybody so far and neither of them would back down for any amount.

Troop Mutines were asking several places. One of these places was the Raul’s city of Alast. They sacked almost anywhere even places that they had alliances with.

Philip the II anointed his half brother Don Juan as a new requences of Nether lands. William of Orange remains distruful of Spain and now also Don Juan. His charge was to get more temporary settlements for the amry

Philip II was also dealing with the Ottoman Empire. A lot of his troops were ther. After the troops had succeeded in Turkish they came back to Spain and strait to the lower countries again.

In 1584 the twelve year truce was introduced and out into action. It worked for many years. After a couple years the warfar started again

In 1618 the war far started again. It went for the next 30 years before it ended. A lot was lost in this war and not much was gained

In 1779 a huge union of countries including holland, Zeeland, and Gelderland reconciled itself to Spain. This giving Spain a more army’s and troops. The countries were part of the northern provinces.

In 1881 the governor had to replace Philip II. He was not liked and peopel wanted him out. The problem was who would replace him. They found Francois de Valois. He wasn’t like very much either though
