On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Parks refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a segregated bus. her act led to her arrest sparking a 381-day boycott of Montgomery's bus system by the African American community. It eventually led to a Supreme Court ruling in 1956 that declared bus segregation unconstitutional. Rosa Parks passed was on october 24. 2005
