29 year old black man was shot by police attempting to arrest him at 18.15.
He was a passenger in a minicab and is shot after an apparent exchange of fire.
Believes to shots were fired by the police, there was on an illegal firearm was recovered from the scene. and they found a bullet lodged in the police radio.
Duggan was suspected to plan a revenge attack following the fatal stabbing of his cousin and had a gun with him
He died from a gunshot wound to his chest. -

First Disturbances appear in Totteham
News coverage is describing them as disturbances instead of riots.
The disturbances started after a protest of 120 people from the broadwater estate to the Totteham Police Station via the high road. Protesting against the shooting.
The protest starts to get out of control and turn into disturbances but most of the crowd seem to be standing around watching what is going on rather than joining in.
The media make it out that the emergeny services has it under control, as the crowd is tamed. -

654 people have also been charged.
Greater Manchester Police so far have made 147 arrests and more than 70 people had already gone through the courts. Merseyside Policemade 77 arrests and charged 45 people . West Midlands said 445 arrested. Nottinghamshire Police arrested 109 people and charged 69.
