This is where my family's love for soccer started. My father has coached both of my siblings and I. Currently, both are on intramural teams in college and I am on the WHS girls soccer team. Soccer is always something we can go back to whenever we spend time together.

Alcy grew up as a Catholic and religion played an extremely important role in his own household as both of his parents are Catholic, and now, religion plays a prominent role in my life as well. Last May I was confirmed at Saint Paul's Church in Wellesley. -

It was a little scary for him and sad to leave his friends, but he was hopeful to meet up with some people he already knew in his new school and meet new people. The new school was more directed towards medicine (had classes like anatomy), which he valued. -

Although there are no available photos of my dad during this time, this is an image of the stadium (called Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa) where he was offered to play on El Aucas professional club soccer team (at 17 years old) and he signed the contract. Even though this was an incredible and unforgettable experience, the journey was short-lived, as a year and a half later, he decided to quit to pursue his dream of attending medical school to become a doctor.

We go to Ecuador every summer and in 2012, Alcy brought the whole of the family to visit the stadium where he used to play. To this day, when we go to Ecuador, we still go to the stadium to watch games. Pictured is Alcy and his three kids while Monica takes the photo.
