My Game History

  • Netball

While I had planned to keep all timeline entries as video games, I couldn't knowingly exclude netball when it was such a big part of my life.
Before I started school, my mum had a game at least once a week and would bring me along. Normally in the pram or sitting with my grandparents if they were also watching.
When I could walk, I would shoot goals and throw the ball around during halftime when the players left the court.
I joined a team the moment I could and stopped playing in high school.
  • Super Mario Advance

    Super Mario Advance
My first ever console was the GameBoy Advance, Mario being the first game I had (and the only one for a while). My main memories of this game were always playing as Peach, constantly losing to Birdo shooting me off platforms, and bugging my Poppa to help me finish the level (he was just as bad as me haha).
This single game grew into a treasured collection of GBA titles and a love of all things handheld gaming. Nintendo RD2. (2001). Super Mario Advance [Game Boy Advance]. Nintendo
  • Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia

    Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia
After the GameBoy I got the Nintendo DS Lite. Pokemon Ranger is my defining game of the DS given how it utilizes the touchscreen to draw circles.
It's one of my favourite games and I revisit it every time I remember I own a DS. I have 100% completed the story and sidequests many times now and my favourite thing to do is befriend all the eeveelutions and run around the world with them.
also the music slaps Creatures, Inc. (2008). Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia [Nintendo DS]. Nintendo
  • Va-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action

    Va-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action
Va-11 Hall-A is a visual novel I had only heard of due to Youtube. I started watching a lets play and immediately turned it off to play it myself. The game's humour, vaporwave soundtrack, and retro pixel art style drew me in and it quickly became one of my favourites. I loved it so much that I took a screenshot from the game and converted the pixel art into a cross stitch pattern. Sukeban Games. (2016). VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action [PC]. Ysbryd Games
  • Persona 5 Royal

    Persona 5 Royal
The Persona game series is something that my brother and I both love, constantly watching each other play or sharing new facts we've found.
While he played from release day, my health made it difficult to actually play it myself (he never spoiled the game for me despite that). After starting new medication however I finally played and felt like I did as a kid where I'd spend all day playing the newest game I'd gotten for Christmas. Atlus. (2019). Persona 5 Royal [Playstation 4]. Atlus, Sega
  • Disco Elysium

    Disco Elysium
Currently playing Disco Elysium in my spare time, and I'm very surprised that my little laptop actually runs it. I'm drawn to the oil painterly art style and the choice-based gameplay combined with role-playing elements solidified my interest. I'm loving the mystery of figuring out the player character's identity, exploring the environment to solve a crime, and the dialogue mechanic of the voices in our head (even if they confuse me at times) ZA/UM. (2019). Disco Elysium [PC]. ZA/UM
