    Since the electoral triumph of the Nationalist Party established a discriminatory racial segregation regime towards the black majority. The ANC and the Pan-Afican Congress urged the black population to leave their passes at home on March 21 and report to police stations to be detained as a form of protest but in the town of Sharpeville, was organizated a big demostration against the passes as in other places before the police that chose to open fire and kill and injured black people.

    Younger leaders were ready to fight apartheid and one of this leader,s Steve Biko, created The South African Students Organisation and became their first president. He said that blacks felt sad and angry because of terrible way they were treated. Blacks need to be proud of their colour and proud of their culture.

    He was banned and arrested and three weeks later, he was beaten to death by police. He had been against violence.

    Botha offered to Mandela to free him of the prision but Mandela not accepted. The same year, Mandela go to the hospital for a small operation, Mandela have tuberculosi, a very serious disease.

    Botha was replaced by a new leader, FW de Klerk a big suportter of apartheid. But the situation in South Africa is bad and he talk with Mandela and the ANC to reach an agreement.

    De Klerk spoke to South Africa's government and he say that the ANC and sixty other organisations would be made legal that meant that three houndred and seventy four political prisioners would be free. De Klerk shocked all the country.. Mandela left prision after twenty seven years close in a cell and hundreds of thousands of blacks celebrated in the streets.
