Nelson Mandela was Born in Mveso, South Africa on July 18,1918. His mother was Nonqaphi Nosekeni and his father was Nkosi Mphakanyiswa Gadla Mandela. Mandelas real name was Rolihlahla Mandela, however in primary school, his teacher gave him the "christian" name of Nelson.
This event is significant because Mandela grew up to change the south african world for the better.

Nelson Mandela get involved in African Nation Congress against racism. As he became more and more involved later on he became a leader of the ANC group. Also, Mandela, with a group of friends, including Tambo, founded the African National Congress (ANC) Youth League. The main purpose of ANC was to end the racism, and pushed opposite the apartheid. As a result, soon he got arrested for defying the government. -

The government banned the ANC. As a result,Nelson Mandela was protesters against it. After the ANC were banned the government ordered the police to kill the protesters. However, things goes out of control, the fight between the protesters and police were becoming extreme major issue. Nelson Mandela was the one who leaded the group in later a complain was filed against him. -

Nelson Mandela was arrested for defying the government. Although the death penalty was almost a given, Mandela was eventually sentenced to life in prison. After getting arrested, Nelson Mandela had to go to trial. He was found at guilty, and spend few months in prison. -
Caught and imprisoned
Nelson Mandela received a life sentence for committing sabotage against South Africa’s apartheid government, avoiding a possible death sentence. Mandela was found guilty on four charges of sabotage on June 11. On June 12, 1964, a judge sentenced Nelson Mandela to life in prison. Back in 1964, Mandela was one of eight men accused of conspiracy and sabotage in the so-called Rivonia Trial, named after a suburb of Johannesburg where African National Congress leaders had hidden out in a farmhouse. -
Two death in family
While Nelson Mandela were in jail, his mother and son died at car incident. Nelson Mandela wrote several letters to friends and family detailing his grief and despair over his son’s death and his powerlessness as a prisoner to do anything. He was not allowed to receive newspapers at that time which would have given him more information than he had access to. He was not allowed to go his son and mother funeral. However, he regretted about this matter. -

Nelson Mandela was released from prison after 27 years. After being releasing from prison he marched and waved to the thousands lining the streets. Nelson Mandela supporter was all over the street. Later on, he spoke to approximately 50,000 thousand of people at the city hall. -

South Africa's newly elected Parliament chose Nelson Mandela to be the first president of the post-apartheid era. Nelson Mandela was a leader in the African National Congress, an organization dedicated to protesting the South African government’s policy of apartheid. He spent 27 years in prison, during which time he became the central figure of the anti-apartheid movement. -

After becoming the president Nelson Mandela divorced his second wife Winnie. Nelson Mandela divorced Winnie because after Nelson being released from jail his wife told him to quit whatever he was doing. Also, things were not working between them because he wanted to continue his political career while she was against it. -

The Nobel Peace Prize 1993 was awarded jointly to Nelson Mandela and Frederik Willem de Klerk "for their work for the peaceful termination of the apartheid regime, and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South Africa" The novel prize recognized Mandela with new form what he have been doing for years to win the African rights which finally recognized him for his hard works. -

Retires at the age of 85
Nelson Mandela annouced that he would be retiring from public life at the age of 85. Nelson Mandela always was a great leader and always will be. During his time period he fought for the segregation rights which were deprived from the black African people. Nelson Mandela was the one who stood up against it. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years on prison in order get the rights they deserved. Nelson Mandela will be missed and lived forever!
