  • ESEA

    Supports low-income families with initiatives and provisions.
  • PARC v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

    Challenged constitutionality of denying "mentally retarded" access to school. Ended with state not allowed to deny access to school based on mental disability.
  • Education Amendments Act

    Gifted and talented and exceptional learners become supported. Due process is granted.
  • EAHCA

    The Mainstreaming Law. Requires free appropriate education to disabled.
  • Education of the Handicapped Act Amndments

    Free appropriate education and intervention extended to younger generations (toddlers).
  • Honig v. Doe

    Benefitted emotional and behavioral disorders. Ruled that expulsion due to behavioral disorder was not allowed.
  • ADA

    Prohibits discrimination and protects equal opportunities of disabled in school and work force.
  • Cedar Rapids v. Garret F.

    Schools must provide supplemental services to attend school at no extra cost to parents.
  • IDEIA

    Increases quality of life for sped students and increases funding to early intervention.
  • Winkelman v. Parma City School District

    Parents may pursue IDEA claims on their behalf independent of child’s rights.
