The Third Estate then met in an indoor tennis court and created the Tennis Court Oath, which meant that they would stick together until a constitution was created for France. -

The Reign of Terror was a time that silenced anyone who didn't believe in the French Revolution. There were harsh measures taken against anyone who was suspected to be against the Revolution. Over 15,000 people were executed on the guillotine, and many others died. -

The Napoleonic Code was established under Napoleon in 1804. The code forbade privileges based on birth. It also allowed freedeom of religion and it specified that jobs were given to the most qualified. This code strongly influenced the laws of other countries that were formed during or after the Napoleonic Wars. -

Napoleon was crowned emperor in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. He was the first frenchman to hold the title in a thousand years. -

Napoleon's army of 600,000 attempted to invade Russia. Many of Napoleon's soldiers freeze or starve to death. Each time Napoleon's armies would get to a town, they would find it in flames. Eventually, Napoleon's armies had to return back to France without fighting a battle. Napoleon's army went from 600,000 to about 100,000. -
Retreat from Moscow
Napoleon's defeated army had to return back to France. Napoleon's army further decresed to about 20,000 soldiers. Many solidiers died from starvation or freezing to death. -
Battle of Leipzig
This battle was also known as the Battle of Nations. It was fought between the coalition armies of Russia, Prussia, Austria, and Germany against Napoleon's armies. The batttle had over 600,000 soldiers fighting in it. Napoleon was defeated during this battle. -
Exile to Elba
Napoleon abdicated the throne in 1814 and was exiled to Elba. In March 1815, he escaped his exile and returned to Paris. When he returned to Paris, he regained the title of Emperor and some of his supporters as well. -
Exilte to St. Helena
European powers did not want to give Napoleon any chance of a possible return, so they sent him to the island of St. Helena in the South Atlantic Ocean. Napoleon stayed at this island until his death, about six years later. -

The Hundred Days marked the time between Napoleon's return from exile in Elba to Paris and the return of King Louis XVIII in power. During this time, Napoleon made changes such as changes to the Imperial Constitution. Eventually, Napoleon had to abdicate the throne a second time, and he was later exiled to Saint Helena. -

The Battle of Waterloo marked the final defeat of Napoleon. His troops were defeated by the British and the Prussian. This ended France's domination in Europe. -

Napoleon died on the island of Saint Helena, where he was exiled. Napoleon most likely died of stomach cancer while on the island.
