When Bruno arrived home from school, he discovered his Mother and the families maid, Maria packing up his things. This was because Bruno and his family were moving to 'Auschwitz' for fathers jod because it was very important. -

The family move to 'Auschwitz'
The family move to 'Auschwitz' or 'Out-With' as Bruno pronounces it. The new house is not as nice, or as large as the old house in Berlin. Bruno dosen't really like it because there are no places for him to go exploring and no other children are around. -
Bruno falls off his swing.
Because Bruno couldn't go exploring and had no one to play with, he decided to use a tyer to build a swing in the front yard tree. He was enjoying himself when he fell off. The only person home was the cook and waiter, Pavel. He mended Bruno's scrached knee. -
Bruno meets Shmuel.
Bruno had been told he was not aloud to go exploring and that the back yard was out of bounds. But, he couldn't help himself and he walked until he found a young boy sitting on the other side of a barbed wire fence. They started talking, and soon enough became friends. -
Herr List was hired to Teach
Herr List was hired to continue schooling Grettle and Bruno. He tought them about the war and why the Jew's were evil people. The things they learnt anout the war may have seemed to complicated for children of there age to be learning. -
Surrender to the Soviets
Over 90,000 German troops at Stalingrad surrender to the Soviets. It is a significant turning point in the war against Germany. -
The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising begins after German troops attempt to deport the ghetto's last surviving Jews. About 750 Jews fought back the Germans for almost a month. -
The Trident Conference begins
The Trident Conference between the U.S. and Britain begins. Roosevelt and Churchill decide to delay the Allied invasion of France and in its place plan the Allied invasion of Italy. In Alaska, U.S. troops land on Attu in the Aleutian islands to retake it from the Japanese . -
Resistance of the Warsaw Ghetto Crushed.
German troops crush the last resistance of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and kill thousands of Jews. The rest are sent to the Treblinka concentration camp to die. -
Italy declares war on Germany

Father tells Bruno that he will be going back to Berlin.
Bruno's Mother and Father both beleived that Auschwhitz was not a place for children to be growing up and living. Mother, Grettle an Bruno will be moving back to Berlin. -
Bruno and Shmuel plan their last adventure
Bruno went back to the place where he had been meeting Shmuel for the past year to tell him he was going home the next day. They planed one last adventure, to go exploring and to find Shmuels Papa who had gone missing. -
Bruno and Shmuel were gassed
On Bruno's last day at Auschwitz, he went to meet Shmuel who had brought an extra pair of Striped Pyjamas for Bruno to wear. While they were exploring the Camp, it started storming and they got caught in march leading to showers. They were locked into the room by soldiers. "And then the room went very dark and somehow, despite all the chaos that followed, Bruno was still holding Shmuel's hand in his own and nothing in the world would have persuaded him to let go.." -

The German siege of Leningrad that began in September 1941 finally ends. -

The Allies begin massive bombing campaign of Germany. -

German military leaders attempt but fail to kill Adolf Hitler in the Rastenburg Assassination Plot. Hitler then kills about 200 suspected plotters. U.S. troops make an amphibious assault on the Japanese -held island of Guam in the Marianas. -

Germany begins its last-ditch offensive in the Ardennes, beginning the Battle of the Bulge. -
Soviet submarine sinks
A Soviet submarine sinks the Wilhelm Gustloff. It is the single deadliest sinking in maritime history, killing between 6,000 and 10,000 people, most of whom were civilian refugees and wounded German soldiers. -
Bombing of Dresden
The Allies begin firebombing Dresden, Germany, killing at least 135,000 people. -
Hitler Commits Suicide
Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun commit suicide in a Berlin bunker as Soviet troops advance through the city. Nazi Propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels is scheduled to become the new German Chancellor but he also kills himself -- after having his wife and six children killed. Karl Donitz is named as Hitler's successor. -

The Worlds first atomic bomb - Postdam conference begins
The world's first atomic bomb is successfully tested in New Mexico -- The Trinity Test. The parts of the bombs to be dropped on Japan are already on their way. In Germany, the Potsdam Conference between the U.S., Britain, and the USSR begins. Disagreements over the future of Europe plant more seeds for the coming Cold War. -
WWII is over
Japan signs the formal surrender agreement on board the U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay. World War II, the most devastating war in human history, is over.
