Montgolfier Brothers
The Montgolfier Brothers created a balloon and was able to fly it using hot air created by a fire underneath balloon. -

The First manned glider was built and flown by George Cayley -
Powered Plane Built
Otto Lilienthal constructed over 2000 gliders in 1891-1896. He built a powered biplane, but was died the night before he would fly. He wanted to make a test flight on his glider to make sure he was ready, but his glider crashed and he died. -
First Controlled Ridged Dirigable
The worlds first controllable ridged dirigible was able to be seared and return to it's starting point. -
Samuel Langley's Airplane
Samuel Langley wanted to build an airplane and asked the US Government for money for his project. The US government gave him the money and he got to work right away. He would launch the plane off of his house boat. In October of 1903, he launched his plane the first time and crashed into the river. After repairs, he tried again and failed again. -
The First Powered Manned Plane Flight
Wilbur and Orville Wright constructed a powered airplane and were able to conduct a flight lasting 12 seconds traveling over 120 ft. The Pilot of the historic flight was Orville because Wilbur lost the coin toss. -
Flight Schools Open
In the years of 1910, people started to get interested into aviation and wanted to learn to fly. Wilbur & Orville Wright and Glenn Curtis both created the first flight schools. -
First Woman to get Pilots Licence
The first woman to graduating from flight school was Harriet Quimby. She would also become the first woman to fly across the English Channel. Her flight career ended when her plane nosed dived and through out herself and her passenger. -
First Multi-engine Plane
With the first plane to have more then one engine, planes can now go even further and carry more loads per flights. -
WWI Begins
World War I was the first big war of the 20th century. It started with an assassination and involved more countries than any war at the time. Many European countries like Germany and France would go to fighting for a total of four years. -
Postal Service Started to use airplanes
The United States Postal Service started to use airplanes for their mail transportation. The Railroad Co. started to complain that the mail service in planes is going to put railroad out of business for mail. The US Postal Service started to use airplanes more often then railroad that it became the more official way of delivering the mail. The railroad companies were not to pleased. -
WWI Ends
At the peace conference it was impossible to respect the wishes of all the countries involved. But eventually peace and an agreement was made thus ending the Great War. -
People Lose intrest in airplanes
The people that used to fly airplanes started to disperse after WWI and a few pilots never flew again. Some Pilots became more famous after the war like Eddie Rickenbacker and Billy Mitchell. -
First Treck across Atlantic
Two Pilots, John Alcock and Arthur Brown conducted the first non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean taking +24 hours. -

The airmail act of 1925 was the first Airmail Act for how airmail will travel and how they would have multiple airports in areas of the United States. -

In 1925, Pilot Charles Lindbergh dared to cross the Atlantic Ocean Solo. He Completed his journey in 33.5 Hours. -

The He-178 was the first jet-engine powered airplane to take flight. The Plane was introduced and flown in-front of the German Military that didn't take too much interest. -

It started when Germany was getting unstable with the newly developed power Third Reich and then Germany invaded their neighboring country of Poland and broke their truce with The USSR. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
On the morning of December the 7th, Pearl Harbor was attacked by navel and carrier based air forces by the empire of Japan. -
The Doolittle Raid
After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States declared war on Japan and wanted to strike back at them as soon as possible. A Navel Submarine Commander gave the idea of launching Army B-25's off an Navy Aircraft Carrier. The Raid on Tokyo was lead by Col. Jimmy Doolittle. -
D-Day Invasion
On the 6th of June, The United States, Great Britain and Canada launched a Major amphibian assault on Normandy beach in France. -
World War II Ends
After the two Atomic Bombs were dropped on Japan, Hideki Tojo declared the official surrender of Japan aboard the Battleship USS Missouri. -
Air Force is founded
The United States Congress created branch of the military to be complete air power. The United States Air Force was now an official branch of the US Military. -
The First Plane to break the Sound Barrier
The Bell Aircraft Company created the Bell X-1 and were doing test to break the sound barrier. The First engine tests were unstable, but the problem was fixed and Chuck Yeager became the first man in the world to travel Mach 1. -
The Berlin Airlift Operations
The Soviet Union created a wall that separated Berlin, Germany and never gave supplies to both sides of the city. The United Nations (UN) created the Berlin Airlift Operations to deliver Supplies to Berlin. -
The Korean War
The Communist part Northern Korea invaded the Democratic part Southern Korea. The United States became involved in the war until the cease fire on July 27, 1953. -
The Vietnam War
After the war in Korea, Communism spread into the North Vietnam and invaded South Vietnam. Again, The United States became involved heavily into the war later on March 8th, 1965, but not an official war with the US. -
The Concorde's Commercial Flgihts
Two Concorde's, British Airways and Air France flew their first flight with passengers. The Concorde would fly in service until 2003. -

The Airline Deregulation Act was when the government took over the airline's "freedom" for their pricing on tickets and where they can fly. -
Desert Storm (Gulf War)
Operation Desert Storm in its combat phase, was a war waged by coalition forces from 34 nations led by the United States against Iraq in response to Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait. -
The Terrorist Attacks on the World Trade Centers
On the morning of the 11th, two airliners were hijacked by terrorists and crashed the planes into both Towers of the World Trade Centers. Over 3000 people were killed as a result of the attack.
