Religious and Political Freedoms
Everybody has a freedom of speech, religion, and the press. The people also have a right to assemble and petition the government. -
Right to Bear Arms
Militaries should be maintained all people have the right to bear arms. Security of all states are necessary. -
Quartering Troops
No soldier is to be quartered in any house during time of war without the consent of the owner. -
Search and Seizure
The people are secure in their houses, papers and effects. The people will not be violated when unreasonable searches are ordered. -
Rights of Accused Persons
The people have a right to not have to answer to a capital. They can't be deprived of life, liberty, or property. -
Right to a Speedy, Public Trial
The accused criminal has a right to a speedy and public trial. He wll be charged in front of an impatial jury and has the right to obtain witnesses in their favor. -
Trial by Jury in Civil Cases
In situations of common law the right of trial will be preserved and will not be reexamined in any other court. -
Limits of Fines and Punishment
Expensive bail or fines are not required and cruel and unusual punishments are not to be inflicted. -
Rights of People
Certabin rights are not to be construed to deny others kept by the people. -

Any powers not given to the United States are given to the states or the people. -

Lawsuits Against States
The Judicial power of the United States will not be construed to extend to any suit of law, be prosecuted against a citizen of a different state or foreign nation. This was amended because then they could overrule the US Supreme Court's decision in Chisholm v. Georgia. -
Election of Executives
All electors will meet in their own state a vote by ballot for President and Vice-President. All votes will be counted by the President of the Senate. -
Slavery Abolished
Slavery or unvoluntary servitude can't exist in the United States except as a punishment. This was amended because President Abraham Lincoln and other Republicans were worried that the Emancipation Proclamation, which set slaves free in 10 Confederate states, would be seen as a war measure since the slaves were revolting. Since this was not fair to other slaves they made this amendment. -
Civil Rights
All people born in the US are citizens. no state can deprive a person of life, liberty, or property. Representatives will be apportioned among the states according to to their population. -
Right to Vote
Voting in the United States can't be denied on account of race or color. -
Income Tax
The Congress has power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source, without consideration of enumeration. -
Direct Election of Senators
The Senate will consist of 2 people from each state, elected by the people, for 6 years. Any vaccancies may be filled from a vote from the state. -
Prohibition
The importation, manufacture of, or sale of intoxicating liquors are prohibited. This was amended because of health problems and that drunkenness was a punishable crime. -
Woman Suffrage
Citizens are not denied the right to vote on the account of tbeir gender. -
"Lame Duck" Sessions
The terms of the President and Vice President will end at noon on January 20th. If the President elect has died then the Vice President elect will take over office. -
Repeal of Prohibition
Eighteenth article "Prohibition" is repealed. The transportation of intoxicating liquors in any other territory in violation of law is still prohibited. This was amended because crime rates went up because of gangsters and black markets that sold alcohol. -
Limit on Presidential Terms
No person can be elected president for over 2 terms. No person who has held office for over 2 years and who has been replaced can't be elected again. -
Voting in District of Columbia
Congress may direct a number of electors. Electors meet in the distict and perform their duties. -
Abolition of Poll Taxes
The right of the citizens to vote in any primary election for President or Vice President. -
Presidential Disability, Succession
Removal, death, or resignation of the president will lead to the Vice President taking over. The President can appoint a new Vice President if there is a vacancy. The President may be voted out of office until a declaration of an ability to carry on is written. This was amended because there was no system of what would take place if the president resigned or died. -
18 year old Vote
All citizens the age of eighteen or older can't be denied the right to vote. -
Congressional Pay
No law will take effect unless an election of Representatives has intervened.
