Fiume Crisis
The Fiume Crisis was Italy's motives to take over the port of Fiume to take over the Adriatic Sea. This led to the death of 9 French soldiers and relations were not tried to be fixed. This led to international relations remaining high for the 1920's. -
Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was a death sentence to Germany. They lost their Land, had to give reparations and they lost areas like the Rhineland. This was one of the most horrible moments for the relations in Europe. -
Aaland islands dispute
The Aaland Islands dispute was a fight between Finland and Sweden over the Aaland Islands after Finland broke away from Russia. The league solved this by giving the occupation to Finland but gave the Swedish citizens Civil rights. This was one of the few successful attempts the LON had. -
Washington Naval Conference
The Washington Naval Conference was a conference concerning Japan's increase in Naval forces. To Keep them moderate they limited Japan's Naval forces. This could be considered a reason why international tensions remained so high. It was due to the fear of the increase of Japan's power. -
Genoa Crisis
The Genoa Conference was a series of agreements that George Lloyd wanted to set for Germany's reparations. This was done to revive the European Economy however, it failed. This is a great showing of how unsuccessful the attempts were to improve relations keeping the tension high. -
Rapallo Pact
The Rapallo pact was a pact between Germany and Russia made out of Russia being unsure of George Lloyds plans. The two countries could not do any financial claims against each other that happened during the war. This was the reason why the Genoa Conference failed. This (also due to German fear of another triple entente from Britain and France) is a great showing of how bad international relations were towards the other Countries and the relation between Germany and Russia at the time. -
Chanak Crisis
The Chanak Crisis was Turkey's general; Kemal sent his forces to the strait zone which was occupied by the allies. While Italy and France left Britain stayed. Kemal was sent an ultimatum to retreat but, in the end, they came to an agreement. This was important as it was an example of why international relations were high. Turkey being backed by Russia could have gone to war with Britain. -
Dawes Plan
The Dawes Plan was a plan to fix Germany's reparations and the European Economy. While the total amount of reparations was not fixed Germany still received loans. This increased the relations and stopped Frances's occupation over Ruhr. -
Locarno Conference
The Locarno Conference was a series of agreements to help Germany's relations with France. France was promised allies to help if anything happened and made sure Germany couldn't have another Ruhr crisis. This is important as it was one of the few times international relations were positive. This also led to Germany in the LON -
Young Plan
The Young Plan was a reduce in the reparations for Germany. The U.S also giving loans helped Germany's economy spike. While Due to the Great Depression this failed it can be considered a small success in relations as this plan was accepted by countries like France or Britain.
