Era of Enlightenment
From 5E 100 to 5E 200, Tamriel underwent a series of intellectual advancements. Thinkers and writers from all nations and creeds banded together into academic clubs and circulated their ideas. As opposed to the dogmatism of Fourth Era Tamriel, the ideas of liberty, reason and secularism began to prevail during the Era of Enlightenment. Technology and science developed at a quick pace, leading to significant discoveries in the 5E 200s. -
The Famine of 101
After the Federation of High Rock defaulted on its national debt, it was forced to repay its debts with raw exports. The monarchs of High Rock ordered police officers to collect grain from Bretonic farmers and sold it to Skyrim. Many farmers resisted the officers and were imprisoned for being "saboteurs of the Crown". This led to the Famine of 101, during which Bretonic peasants were afflicted with mass starvation. Tens of thousands of Bretons died. -
Roller mills built in Cyrodiil
In Cyrodiil, the first rolling mills were constructed. These factories used steel bars to stir molten iron, turning the metal vastly more malleable and pliable. Thanks to the invention of rolling mills, rails and support columns could now be built faster and more efficiently. Around the Empire, iron and steel prices fell drastically. Horse railways were now cheaper to build and grew to connect every major city in Cyrodiil. -
Emperor Regillian legalizes Talos worship
Ever since he became an Emperor, Regillian Mede had been under the influence of the Dragon League. He enacted some anti-Elvish laws, but his League friends had bigger plans. Acting according to the League's wishes, Emperor Regillian officially legalized Talos worship and threatened the Thalmor with an army of "metal men" and Nords wielding "steel beams". Although this contravened the White-Gold Concordat, the Thalmor were confused by his near-incomprehensible speech and decided to wait and see. -
Penitus Oculatus slay the Emperor
After discovering that Emperor Regillian Mede was being influenced by the Dragon League, the Penitus Oculatus debated if their loyalty towards the Emperor was negated by the said Emperor being mentally deficient. Deciding that killing him would avert a potential war with the Dominion, Penitus Oculatus agents murdered Regillian. This action killed the last surviving Mede and launched the Laemorinic Interregnum. -
Laemorinic Interregnum begins
After the murder of Emperor Regillian, the Ruby Throne was left vacant once again. Elder Council was split along sectarian lines as there were no surviving Medes to take on the throne. Chancellor Iricàryà Laemorin was chosen as the interim leader of the Empire. Although Laemorin was strongly pro-Empire and had a distinguished history of service in the Elder Council, her Altmeri ethnicity made her intensely unpopular among the Imperials. -
Talos worship outlawed
After Emperor Regillian was dethroned and executed, Regent Iricàryà Laemorin made Talos worship illegal again. This was done according to the stipulations of the White-Gold Concordat. Although Laemorin had no choice in this regard, she was blamed by the Imperial public for being a puppet for the Thalmor. -
Stormcloaks occupy Riften
Stormcloaks, active in the Rift and Eastmarch, were anxious to reclaim their rightful place as the rulers of Skyrim. During the Laemorinic Interregnum, Stormcloaks attacked Riften and occupied the city. Riften used to be one of the most colorful cities of Skyrim, harboring a population of thieves, prostitutes, musicians, miners, Dunmeri dissidents and artists. During the two-year Stormcloak occupation, non-Nordic residents were banished from the city. -
Four assassination attempts foiled against Laemorin
Iricàryà Laemorin, serving as the Regent of the Empire, had a vast army of political enemies. The Dragon League tried and failed to poison her, and the Dark Brotherhood only managed to make her nose bleed. Thalmor agents slipped nightshade extract into her morning tea, while a group of Colovian politicians shot an arrow through her hand during a public speech. Penitus Oculatus thwarted all these attempts, as they found that her above-average governance was preferable to no governance. -
Stormcloaks driven from Riften
Although their occupation of Riften was brutal, the Stormcloaks continued to pay royal taxes and dutifully upheld public order. Everything changed after the Stormcloaks attempted to expand their rule towards Windhelm by sending menacing letters to the Jarl of Eastmarch. Regent Laemorin demanded the High King to take action. A rather shabby-looking militia was mustered to liberate Riften. After three months of besieging, Stormcloaks retreated and Riften was free once again. -
Republic of Hammerfell arms their soldiers with firearms
Republic of Hammerfell armed their whole army, from the lowest private to the highest general, with high-quality flintlock rifles. Using true flints, these rifles offered superior mobility and excellent precision over all other weapons available in Tamriel. Due to a lack of magic proficiency among the Redguard, their weapons had to be strictly mechanical and featured no arcane parts, unlike the muskets of the Altmer. -
Iricàryà Laemorin almost deposed
General Hesper Ancillius, a sympathizer of the Dragon League, marched with Legio Polcus and besieged the Imperial City. Ancillius's stated intention was to install himself as the new Emperor and depose the Elvish hegemony at the helm of the Empire. His forces were driven back, but Laemorin and the Elder Council realized that her rule was unsustainable and that a new Dynasty was needed. -
Monetary reform in the Empire
Under Regent Laemorin's orders, the successful monetary reform of Skyrim was expanded to cover all of the Empire. Now, Cyrodiil and High Rock also began using paper septim notes, backed by gold. The banknotes contained images of various Emperors and were printed in safe locations, made from a mixture of paper and Nirnroot fibers. Every bank note was enchanted with a weak magical signature to make forgery near-impossible. -
Repeating rifles invented
Kemaz Mizihan, a Redguard mechanic employed by the Ra Gada Army, invented the first lever-action repeating rifle in history. Called the Mizihan rifle, his design was made out of a brass alloy and allowed its users to fire multiple shots before having to reload. It employed paper cartridges, which were coated in tallow. Although the Mizihan rifle was far more advanced than the arquebuses of the Empire, its production was limited, as it was notoriously hard to produce repeating rifles by hand. -

They demanded the Empire to reimburse them for potential revenues they could've gained from Solstheim. The Empire refused, which forced the Union to send their fleets to surround the island in an economic blockade. -
Maoil Mhichíl becomes the First Minister of High Rock
Although King Mansez Gouyet of Daggerfall was also the unofficial leader of the Federation of High Rock, he had little interest in dealing with administrative politics. He appointed Maoil Mhichíl as the First Minister of High Rock, tasked to rule the province on behalf of King Mansez and the Empire of Tamriel. Mhichíl was a ruthless politician, who resisted carrying out reforms in High Rock. Mhichíl had a lust for money and gleefully stole state funds from the near-bankrupt Federation. -
Laemoric Interregnum comes to an end

After winning over the Praetorian Guard, Tiberius's troops entered the White-Gold Tower and captured Laemorin. Laemorin was brought to the Talos Square, where she was slain in front of a crowd of onlookers. -

The prisoners observed the prosperous industrial state the Nords lived in and refused to consider going back to their primitive homeland. -
Siege of Blacklight
During the Siege of Blacklight, the Imperial Legion bombarded the city with cannons. The Redoran, afraid of industrial technology, desperately tried to invoke their Daedric gods. Unfortunately, they received no help from Azura this time. After demolishing the city's defensive structures, the Imperial troops entered Blacklight and occupied the city. The Legion used this opportunity to free all slaves of the Dunmer. After this victory, the Empire opened peace negotiations with Morrowind. -
Nirnology born
While studying rock formations in Morrowind, Redguard scientist called Amir Al-Skaven discovered that the chief agents in Tamrielic rock formation were volcanic processes. Previously, it had been believed that rocks like granite and basalt were formed through arcane processes. Researching the cause of this effect, he wrote a seminal paper, proposing that the nervous systems of all living beings worked on the principles of alchemical electricity. Disproving older theories about some godly force driving living beings, Thraman's theory brought empiricism to Thalmor folds. -

Petrus Mede convinced quite a few influential Imperial politicians to end the "Tiberian coup" and install him as the Emperor. -
Most armies now use firearms for combat
While swords were still kept by most armies and even crossbows sometimes made appearances on the battlefield, most nations now used firearms for combat. Cyrodiilic, Nordic, Orcish and Dunmeri armies used arquebuses: strong and durable, but unwieldy and prone to premature propulsion. The Dominion, Elsweyr and High Rock used muskets: lightweight and trusty, but ornate and prone to failure. Redguards used fearsome repeating rifles, while Argonians continued to exclusively use swords and bows. -
The first battery built
Using soul gem fragments and advanced electrostatic generators, the Royal Wayfarers built the first battery, capable of holding and releasing magical electricity at will. Dominion retreats from Black Marsh
After losing Gideon and Lilmoth to the advancing Argonian troops, Dominion decided to launch a full tactical retreat from Black Marsh, deciding that free natural gas wasn't worth the effort.
