Pompey

Pompey was born on September 29, 106 BC. Pompey is mostly known for increasing Rome's boundaries. Pompey is also known for seeking refugee in Egypt from Caesar only to be killed and have his head offered to Caesar.

Julius Caesar

Julius Caesar was born on July 13, 100 BC. Caeser is known to have conquered his former ally Pompey to become dictator of Rome. Caesar died soon after he became dictator by the hands of his fellow consul leaders and friends.

Marcus Brutus

Marcus Brutus was born in June of 85 BC. Marcus Brutus was a successful military leader and politician. Brutus is most famously known for stabbing Julius Caesar in the back and killing him.

Mark Antony

Mark Antony was born on January 14, 83 BC. Mark was a successful politician who came into agreement with Octavian to support each other. After fall-outs in his marriage with Octavian's sister he was killed and Octavian was left with all the power.

Cleopatra

Cleopatra was born in 69 BC. Cleopatra married Julius Caesar and used him to secure herself a position as the sole leader of Egypt. Cleopatra later married Mark Antony and committed suicide with him after his defeat to Octavian.

Octavian / Augustus

Octavian was born on September 23, 63 BC. Octavian defeated his former ally Mark Antony and became the sole leader of the Roman Empire and set up a government that kept him in power and kept the peace in the empire. Octavian took on the name of Augustus, meaning venerable or majestic, in 27 BC.

Tiberius

Tiberius was born on Novermber 16, 42 BC. Tiberius took the throne unopposed and was not a popular ruler do to his suspicions and distrust of those around him. Tiberius retired to the island of Capri where he was most likely murdered in 31 AD.

Claudius was born on August 1, 10 BC. After the death of Caligula, there was much unrest in Rome over his successor. The Praetorian guard had plans of their own and raised Claudius up as emperor and the senate accepted him. Claudius rule was wise, fair and good but his personal life was a mess. Claudius was poisoned by his wife Agrippina and her son Nero became Emperor.

Nero

Nero was born in 37 AD. Resentful of his mother using him to secure more power for herself, had her killed in 59 AD. Nero reigned with fear and had Rome gripped in fear. He killed himself in 67 AD when he found himself to be surrounded by an invading force.

Vitellius

Vitellius was born 15 AD. Vitellius came into power after the assassination of Nero. Vitellius fought several others who sought to take position of Emperor for the themselves and defeated several including Otho and defeated Galba through sheer popularity. Vitellius fell to Vespasian who rose from the Egypt and Persian areas of the empire. Vitellius was defeated, mocked, tortured and thrown into the Tiber river.

Vespasian

Vespasian was born on November 17, 9 AD. Vespasian defeated his rival Vitellius and was raised as the emperor of Rome. Under Vespasian's rule, the empire slowly began to put itself back together and repair itself from the damage done by Nero and other previous bad leaders. Eventually dieing of natural causes in 79 AD.

Titus

Titus was born on December 30, 40 AD. Titus successed his father, Vespasian, in 79 AD when he died. Titus only reigned two years before he died. Even though Titus reigned for a short time he ruled during a time of much calamity, the destruction of Herculaneum and Pompeii due to the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius.

Domitian

Domitian was born on October 24, 51 AD. Domitian became emperor after the death of his brother Titus when he did not leave any successor to the throne. Domitian brought back the worst aspects of Nero's reign. Domitian ruled by fear and with fear becuase he was very superstituous and suspicious of his friends, family and fellow leaders. After 15 years of tyranny he was assassinated in 96 AD.
